Repstock Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 (edited) I decided to do a White 7000. I have rudimentary skills drawing for 3D printing, so I decided to do the grille that way. While I wait for the prints, I decided to start the chassis. I chose to make the hopelessly convoluted Velvet-Ride suspension. Here's what I have so far: I notice in my grille drawing I forgot to round the outside edges. I can always sand the part to fix that. Edited January 15, 2024 by Repstock 6
Rockford Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Interesting stuff, chassis looks good, that's a helluva crossmember for the rear suspension.
leafsprings Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Look forward to seeing this build progress, the foundation looks stout and well-engineered!

Force Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Cool! Fisrt time I've seen the Velvet Ride on a model.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 Man you nailed the Velvet Ride! This is going to be good! I hope that you are going to make the higher cab. All of the resin versions are the lower sitting cab. I’m looking forward to this one!
Repstock Posted February 11, 2024 Author Posted February 11, 2024 My 3D parts were very well done, but they wanted to curl up. I was able to super glue them to a flat surface and make resin castings of them. The cab work is underway. When I'm in "The Zone", it's hard to make myself stop and take pictures, but I managed to get this one. Updates to come. 4
Chariots of Fire Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 Looking good, Tom! Nice to be able to cast more than one part once a master is done.
Repstock Posted February 18, 2024 Author Posted February 18, 2024 Now I feel like I'm starting to get somewhere with this. 2
Rockford Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Oh, that IS good. Very tidy. You must be proud of that.
Sergey Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 Wow! Looks cool, Tom! The roof is 3D printed too?

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 It looks awesome! I can’t wait to see this one finished!
Repstock Posted February 24, 2024 Author Posted February 24, 2024 I've got the cab pretty much done. Time to start on the interior. 2 1
The Brush Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 Fantastic work, You are a craftsman well done.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Very nice! I remember seeing a photo of the 1:1 truck that had that intake setup, but I don’t remember where I saw it. I may have even saved it somewhere. Details like the side louvers and the door drains are always missed. This will definitely be the best 7000/7400 in any scale ever built. These are my favorite trucks. It was the first truck that I ever rode in as a kid. It looks like you have all the resources that you need, but I do have several reference photos if you were to need any.

I'd be happy to look at any photos you may have. I'm still looking for an underneath-the-cab shot. Thank you, and thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate it.
Repstock Posted March 23, 2024 Author Posted March 23, 2024 I've been steadily working away at this project. Here's where I am currently...
Repstock Posted March 23, 2024 Author Posted March 23, 2024 I'd also like to thank Curt Zahn and DRIPTROIT 71 for helping me with this truck.
