JollySipper Posted January 21, 2024 Posted January 21, 2024 Hey, fellas! I've been working on this drawing in MS Paint. I'm not sure where to take it from here. I thought about maybe the negative space around him could be actual 'space', with planets and such. I'm not settled on the vertebrae, just trying to fill the area below his head...... Anyway, does anyone have any ideas/suggestions for this folk art of mine? LoL...... 1
JollySipper Posted February 21, 2024 Author Posted February 21, 2024 I AM........ working on another drawing! LoL.......
A modeler named mike Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Did you end up finishing your pieces of art? My granddaughter turned me on to a digital artwork app a few years back that she happened to stumble on, ColorTherapy. It was more geared towards individuals who used it for therapy. They used tap and fill coloring templates but also had a few blank pages you could use to create your own artwork. I started out using the templates but tweaking them to my liking. After I got bored with that I moved on to freehand? If you can call digital art freehand? I haven't been able to get back into it since my iPad I used for that took a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. I still rather do artwork by hand but the digital artwork was fun to do. Here's a few examples of freehand digital work from that app. 1
JollySipper Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 Those are pretty creative! I still work on these as the mood strikes....... I have several I goof around on when I have time. Here's one I did some time back! Some would wonder where the inspiration for some of these came from! I wish I could find a decent program that you can draw from scratch with...... MS Paint is very limited by what you can do.
A modeler named mike Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 I'm the same with artwork, have to be in the mood or inspired from something I spotted. At the moment I can not remember the name of the digital drawing program that was also suggested that I try but they used a layering process of drawing and eventually you have your artwork. Too much work, not much fun although easy to correct any mistakes. I'd have to say pen or pencil would be my choice of medium. I should I say "when" I get the time too. As for inspiration.. It comes in many forms.. much from what we talked about before..?

Hehehe............ Here's a couple of 'real' drawings that I've been working on! The BMW is supposed to be like a black n white pic with just the M colors showing........ Not sure I really pulled it off.... This ol pickup is just in pencil......... I'm getting to where I need glasses to do reading and drawing. Kinda why I like drawing in MS Paint, the infinite do-overs you hinted at...... 1
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Your artwork is ,looking good. Neat ms paint projects. I think the BMW looks good. 1
A modeler named mike Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 You nailed the BMW.. I knew what vehicle immediately. Both look really good.. Nice penciling on both. I know the curse of the goggles well. I started wearing reading glasses at work which cause my eyesight to worsen. Now I wear prescription glasses to see clearer and prescription reading glasses for close up work.. Getting old does suck but unfortunately I don't have any insight on a reversal..lol 1
JollySipper Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 Hey, Guys! Just wanted to share this line drawing I'm working on............ As primitive as MS Paint is, if you know how to use it you can draw pretty much anything! 1
A modeler named mike Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Looking pretty cool so far. He's got that look that says back off buddy this is my branch!
JollySipper Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 That's the blade of a scythe.................... 1
A modeler named mike Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 The bird of death, harvesting souls to mock and torture.
JollySipper Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 I had a close encounter with a raven once as a child......... I was outside playing and one landed about three feet from me. It stayed there long enough for me to go get a fishing net to try to catch it with. It even let me put the net over it! When I lifted the net to carry it to show Mom, then it flew away......... I've been kind of obsessed with crows and ravens since. I read once that they carry our souls across 'the river'. 1
JollySipper Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 Thank You Carl! Sometimes I use the drawing directly above with the Sunset as the wallpaper for my computer......... 1
slusher Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 I use to draw before I lost my arm. I drew wildlife aand nature..

MS Paint is very limited by what you can do. Yes, MS Paint is very basic, but you seem to be doing pretty well with it. Maybe try https://www.gimp.org/ or https://www.irfanview.com/ . For really advanced stuff (vector-based art), try https://inkscape.org/
JollySipper Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 Pete, man! I took your advice and downloaded the gimp program..... I read it's wiki before I did just to see if it would allow free-form drawing, and it does! I'm going through some tutorials on their site right now.......... Just thought you'd like to know I took your suggestion! 1
peteski Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 Excellent! I'm glad I mentioned it. Gimp is a quite advanced drawing program. I use Corel PhotoPaint (a similar program). I however don't do freehand drawing. I mostly use for editing photos and some decal artwork design. You might also consider looking into getting a drawing tablet/pen to replace the mouse. That allows you to draw just as if you were drawing on paper. Something like https://www.wacom.com/en-us/products/pen-tablets
