Zippi Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 (edited) Lately the weather has been so cold or rainy that I haven't been able to do much painting at all. With that being said I've decided to start another project. I wasn't to sure about this build but after doing a mock-up this morning I think I'm liking what I see. I tried the Revell 1937 pickup body on the AMT 2021 Bronco but it just didn't look right to me so, I tried the AMT Chevy Silverado and it is the victim for this project. The chassis will have to be shortened about 1" plus a lot of other mods just to make this chassis fit the 37 body. I found a Ford engine with duel quads sitting on the rack so I pulled it down to be used in the business end of this project. Edited January 23, 2024 by Zippi 5
Rattlecan Dan Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 This will be cool I spose. But I really liked your idea you had in your shop on YouTube. That ole' Dodge Power Wagon look. But I'm sure you'll make this idea work great.

Took out the ole dremel tool and the hobby saw and got after it. The chassis has been cleaned of all unwanted debri and shortened. 3
Zippi Posted January 24, 2024 Author Posted January 24, 2024 I think I'll be going with these wheels & tires. They are out of the 1/32 AMT Silverado Monster truck kit. Since the 37 Ford truck body is much smaller that a newer truck body I think the size of the wheels & tires fit much better. 2
dragcarz Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Very cool Bob! Another great project in the works, any thoughts on color yet?

ksnow Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Looks like a really fun build. I like the second set of tires, the size does indeed look better with the 37 body. Big, but not way out there big. Looking forward to this one.

The 1/32 wheels & tires do look better but I have to think about all the suspension mods that would have to happen. Still checking things out.
Zippi Posted January 25, 2024 Author Posted January 25, 2024 Fellows....this is what I came up with. I liked the looks of the 1/32 wheels & tires a little better but in order to use them the suspension would have to be cut apart and re-engineered. I just was not up for that or if I could have even pulled it off. This will work out just fine. I still need to do something with the front and back of the frame. 1
mchook Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 Looks like the front has the perfect spot for a nice big winch. The rear of the frame might be cut off to look close enough. I'm sure it will look good with whatever you do. I'll be watching!

Yeah, I think I'll cap off the area in the rear and I'm still up in the air about what to do on the front. I've been searching through my stash but haven't come up with anything yet. I got out the dremel tool and started hacking away once again. I now have the chassis all the way up to the body on the 37. It lowered the body on the chassis about another 3/16". This is the final resting place. Edited January 26, 2024 by Zippi
Rattlecan Dan Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Looks so good I have to laugh. I knew you'd make it look good. (And super cool).

Zippi Posted January 29, 2024 Author Posted January 29, 2024 I got a firewall made this morning. It was a hood that I found in the scrap yard. 3

Zippi Posted February 10, 2024 Author Posted February 10, 2024 I worked on the front of the frame this morning and got it shortened up. Looking much better. 1
Zippi Posted February 11, 2024 Author Posted February 11, 2024 I'm thinking the light bar and bars in the bed looks pretty nice. Not so sure about the cow catcher on the front. 3
