Pre 65 Ford Small Lock engine colors

I think in 66 they were all blue but what about the 62 to 65s,

They changed color to blue sometime under 1965, most likely for the 1966 model year.

Yup. My '65 Mustang's 289 was black, with gold valve covers. The old man bought it new, and it was dead stock when I got it.

Valve covers and air cleaner red? Block should be black.

Even on your chart it shows it as a medium blue (except sprint).  It is red with ugly gold valve covers and air breather. the car has 86000 miles on it and was purchased by my aunt in 65. but thanks for telling me about my car.

Uh no - both charts state all blocks were black up until the '66 model year.
