Great work Phil. I plan on building one of each version of GT40 someday.

Thanks Allan. That is a major project you have as there were a lot of GT40s. How many do you actually want to build? I have one more planned for this year and maybe another in the future  and I previously built an MPC MK IV but that will only make 4 for me. Have you checked out GT40 posts by Gramps46?

I have these four done already, at a minimum, these three others but there is room for more. The resins are both MiniExotics.

Thanks all.

Helmut, I don't know whose kit that is. Years ago I got boxes of parts, I slowly put together bags of kits as I found the parts. The MkIV got built when I discovered the front windshield, the side and rear are sheet styrene. I'm fairly certain it is the MPC kit as it has better shapes than the IMC issue.

If you look closely, you'll notice I built this on a GT40 chassis, not a correct MkIV. MkIV is not as rounded on the bottom under the doors. SShhhhh......

Great looking engine compartment Phil!!!  Taking a curbside model and turning it into into this ???  Good call on your part to upgrade the Weber carbs.  What did you use for the carb "tray" ?

Thanks Randy - The surrounding try was made from three pieces of thin styrene that was constructed and painted before installing the carbs, valve covers and headers to the engine which was already mounted in the chassis. It then required some trimming and fiddling to get it to fit.

Agreed, those carbs will look love-ar-ly under glass....

Thanks Allan for your love-ar-ly double entendre comment !! You will see the carbs under the rear window glass when the model is completed and posted UNDER GLASS.

Marshall Buck of Creative Miniature Associates has what looks like the ultimate 1/12th scale GT40 kit in development from what I have seen on their website. It has been shown on it for at least a couple of years now, so maybe the kit release might be some time soon ?

Regarding the CMA 12th sc - it’s brilliant - But I dont really think Marshall intends to produce it - its been “in development” for decades - not years- decades …

You noticed that too.  ?  With the relatively inexpensive Trumpeter/Magnifer and MENG kits the $11,000 price tag would scare 99.9% of people away.  At least the engine has a distributor.  ?

The V-R-M 427 Cobra decal sheet that is “coming soon” is running a close 2nd for not holding my breath when we will see them for sale.  It would be nice as the set looks nice and is only $15.

Superb work on that powertrain and integrating the whole rear end. Well done sir!

Thanks Pierre - The body is now painted so I can move onto final assembly. The next time you see it, likely it will be Under Glass sooner than later.
