Stanward VonDiederichs Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 How to build a Teardrop Trailer Starting with the illustrations the plastic for the chassis came from the parts tree from the 51 Chevy the rest of it is all wood with copper wire. Skill level between 1 to 10 a about 12 you have to know steam bending wood for this job. Was it hard for me no it was just a little bit more involved than I thought I have all the other skills. No power tools were used in both builds it took me two years to do both. 1
Stanward VonDiederichs Posted February 11, 2024 Author Posted February 11, 2024 I wish the photos were in order. ?
NOBLNG Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 (edited) That is some amazing scratch building there Stanward!? I love all the little details. I was wondering what the fenders came from…then a bit further down I see you made them from scratch too. Nice work!? Edited February 11, 2024 by NOBLNG

NOBLNG thank you for the comment I will tell you the fenders I did make up but in the back of my mind I was picturing about a 1937 Ford or Chevrolet pickup back fenders. If you notice the bottom half of the fenders follow the lines of the body the tail lights I was trying to copy what a 54 Chevrolet tail light look like but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way I didn't have a 54 to look at. Also here's two more photos of something I forgot to put in.

The furniture is 1/12 scale the two end tables are only 7/8 of an inch tall and yes they do fold the circle is a Celtic design it's a rosette for a musical instrument.
shoeman Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Fantastic work! I'd bet that was as difficult to make as the 1:1 Benroy was I made a decade ago. Love the teardrops. 1
dragstk Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 Wow! Color me impressed. Great job, Stanward. An amazing level of detail 1

HI It wasn't so difficult so much it was just more involved then I thought the only reason there is so much detail with my trailer is I own a trailer and I know what it takes to make a trailer that's why there's so much detail.

An amazing level of detail This is what happens when you are a RV trailer person I've been pulling since 1990 I'm on my third trailer I do all repairs. My first trailer had surgery breaks I had to connect them that's one reason why this trailer has surge brakes if you notice the chassis in the brake lines. One of my places that I lived at had a teardrop trailer sitting in the backyard left from the previous owners and I remember how I was put together to this day.
