Dys Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Pretty much as the description states, I'm looking for stock 1974 thru 1978 Mustang II hoods to complete a few restorations. I'm willing to purchase or trade depending on what you need. Let me know your thoughts and we can work from there. Thanx much for your time.
Sledsel Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 (edited) Are you needing AMT or MPC? They are different. Also to note, the MPC '74 hood is different than the '75-'78. I have attached a picture of a 74 Hood placed on a 78 body. Both MPC. The year difference should be true for the AMT kits also but I cannot confirm. Edited February 21, 2024 by Sledsel
Sledsel Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 Your post got me thinking some more about this so I pulled out an AMT kit. The last AMT kit "Street custom" represents a 75 to 78 Mustang II. The hood will fit an MPC but will require a little bit of work. Just an FYI for you.
Dys Posted February 24, 2024 Author Posted February 24, 2024 @Sledsel I appreciate the info. I purchased a couple for build ups, from what I've been told the engine bay area on the MPC's have glue in inner fenders where the AMT's have the inner fender area molded to the chassis plate. If that is true then these are all MPC kits. They all came with hoods, however they have all been hacked up for a blower to come thru. I'm attempting to build stock versions, which is why I need some hoods. I do have one good one, which if I could resin cast, I would do. Unfortunately that's not really an option.
Sledsel Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 Glad to help. Yes, you are correct on the AMT and MPC differences. Try repairing the hoods you have, it's not that tough. A lot of info on the "tips" page.
