bluestringer Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 Finished up the 69 Camaro, now starting a 69 Chevelle. This is the Revell SS396 kit. Going over the parts it looks really nice, should build out good if I don't mess it up. Got the body primed, thinking I may go with a green. It will be a stock oob build. Maybe I'll add a few details under the hood. 1 Quote
Keef Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 I have this kit and the 68 both in my stash. I’ll be watching to see what you do with this one. 2 Quote
dwc43 Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 I have that kit too. Finding it hard to get a flat hood for it. Nothing fits. Tried to widen it out with some strips of plastic glued to the edges, but it breaks up when you try to file it down even. 1 Quote
ModelcarJR Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 James, the Revell 69 Chevelle is an excellent kit. I have built it and the 68 Chevelle twice now and still have one of each in the closet. The 68 below in light blue metallic took a 2nd place in Factory Stock at a contest and the 69 in Daytona Yellow took a 1st place in Factory Stock in another. I'm thinking of buying one more of each before they are gone from the shelves! ? 3 Quote
Metalmad Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 James if you end up painting it the fathom green I recommend laying down a base coat of semi gloss black. Quote

I will probably just go with Tamiya light green. Quote
bluestringer Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 Rain moved in today, so no painting. But I did get the engine finished. Kit provides a nice 396, I added plug wires, fuel line and a bypass hose. 7 Quote
bluestringer Posted March 8, 2024 Author Posted March 8, 2024 Sub frame painted, engine installed. Tamiya light green on the body. 1 Quote

bluestringer Posted March 16, 2024 Author Posted March 16, 2024 Almost done. Got a few items to take care of before I put it under glass. I had my usual problem with this type kit getting the body on the chassis, and the bumpers were finicky. Quote
LennyB Posted March 17, 2024 Posted March 17, 2024 I like it in that color but I think you need the black stripe down the side to finish her off. Quote
