My dad knew of 2 brothers who sold used cars. They bought wrecks and fixed them up for the most part. One thing they did was to mix different parts that were certainly not factory issue. Mercury roofs onto  a Ford body, customers scratched their heads but their cars did sell.

True statement regarding early 50's car parts, Had an uncle in the used car business and mixed and matched GM fenders and bodies.
