I plan on building AMTs new Police Pursuit car. I’m waiting for my local hobby shop to get it in stock. I plan on adding some aftermarket leds on the top for fun. This is the color scheme I want to use. Is that Tamiya Racing White on the top, or something else?  I’m thinking of maybe testing a spare part with black undercoat then racing white top coat. What do you guys think? Thank you in advance for your suggestions

Agreed.

The Racing White is not quite as tan/yellow as your pic above, but is also not a bright white. It would work, but if you wanted to stick with Tamiya paints, I think you'd be better of looking at some of their military paints. Lots of tans there.

I see these guys all the time living here in Florida. The 1:1 cars are a little more tan than the model you posted. I think the closest you'll get in the Tamiya line of spray cans is TS-46 Light Sand and if you do a white or light grey primer coat it'd be even better.

As an aside back in the 90s FHP used Fox body 5.0 Mustangs. I had just finished up the restoration of my '62 Galaxie Convertible. 390/375HP 3x2's & 4speed. I was out on some backroads letting the old girl stretch her legs. One of those FHP Mustangs passed me going the other way, he must've been running radar as he turned around and hit the blue light. My dad said "that 390 can walk that Mustang, hammer down!" That Mustang got smaller & smaller in the mirror but I learned about 5 miles down the road you can't outrun the radio! After the chewing out and no ticket(one of the guys waiting on us was a family friend, thank God), the Mustang guy says "Son just what do you have in that thing? I was giving it all I had & you just kept pulling away" Thanks for letting me ramble and apologies for the thread drift!

I agree on the TS-46 advice, I just used in on my wrecker interior. Play around with the primer colors, I did mine over gray primer.

As others have mentioned the Florida colors, another thought would be the sequence in which you apply the paint. I suggest starting with the lighter color, in this case the roof and rear deck areas. The reason is that the black main body color will better cover the tan or shade of white used. The lighter colored portions of the body will also require far less masking than the black portions. Just a thought for when you get to that point in your build.

Tamiya's Racing White is pretty close to Ford's Wimbledon White, so it won't work for the FHP cars. You want something more like a light sand color for that.
