GLMFAA1 Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 Did anyone make a 1967 Mustang hardtop? Has anyone used the top from another mustang to change the fastback to a hard top? greg
Dave Van Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 There have been some 67-68 coupe resin bodies done, no plastic kit in 1/25. BUT the issue is they used a 65/66 coupe roof which is 100% wrong. I owned a 68 coupe for many years and the roof shape and rear window is very different. I'd like to see R2/AMT do a GOOD coupe with their fastback kit. 1
Rodent Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 The shape of the top of the quarter panel is different between the coupe/convertible and fastback as well. It's not just the roof. Former owner of a '68 coupe myself, I would love a kit! 2
GLMFAA1 Posted April 13, 2024 Author Posted April 13, 2024 Thanks for the info. I had a 1:1 hardtop, 283, 3 speed, black interior, sea foam green exterior until I saw Bullit then it got a moss green exterior. Was my college commute car. loved that car. I need a model of one. greg 1
sfhess Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 It's interesting to see the two different rear side reflectors that were used on the 68 Mustangs. Check with Gerry Chevalier. IIRC he makes a 67-68 Mustang Coupe body. 2

Dave's was an earlier build than mine. His quarter panels were different, with stamped indents so that the marker was semi-flush. Mine just had two holes. The marker was actually a Cougar part. "Officially" they made the change on 2/15/1968, but I find it hard to believe that all three body styles and all three plants switched over on the same day. Fun fact: The Revell fastback has the earlier marker which is correct if you build it as the Cobra Jet drag car. All of the "street" Cobra Jet GTs were built after the changeover, so they should have the Cougar marker. Edited April 18, 2024 by Rodent
sfhess Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 That rear reflector was also used on 68 Montegos and Cyclones.
Keef Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Anyone “know a guy” that makes this body? I’ve been tempted to try the old “66 & 67” switcheroonie but as other have stated it isn’t 100% correct.

Ron Hamilton Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 A few years ago, I bought a 67 Mustang Coupe from Motor City Resin. It was quite nice, and was a good value for the money. My intention is to do a build of Carroll Shelby's "Little Red" with it. All I need to do is fit an engine in it, and it's off to paint and detailing. It mated up well with AMT's 67 Shelby GT350. 1
