I finally finished up the Pinto. I ran into issues late in 2023 and parked it.

I had to do the side rails, put on the headers and make up a lot of radiator parts over the weekend.

I'm happy with the way it came out.

Nice one Bob!!!! Love the radiator work.

Thanks. This was my late-stage stumbling block last year. I HAD a radiator, painted up and I lost it, it will turn up. I have a box that I call "Future Modified" full of modified parts and sub assemblies. I picked out a radiator from that. I had split the radiator off from the coil-overs and needed another way to hang the radiator.

I had to attach it to the "bridge" I made up between the coil-overs and the crossmember. It went together fairly easily and once painted it looked good.

It's always great to finish a build. Especially when it turns out as great as this one did. Lots of nice eye-catching details and very clean work.

Beautiful modified. Although the coupes were my favorites, the Pinto/Vega era was also quite fun to watch. However all good things must come to an end and now there is the cookie-cutter modified. Sorry about the digression. Your build brings back some fond memories from Bowman-Gray Stadium and Martinsville, from days gone by.

I grew up close to Islip in NY and if the wind was right, as a kid I could hear them from my house. On some nights when the breeze came off the bay, we could smell the salt in the air after the races. I ran the last night at Islip in my Nova, finished 4th. This was in 1984.

The only game in town now is Riverhead. The weekly modified shows have 2 modified divisions, mains draw maybe 10 cars per. I'll go for the tour shows, those still pull cars from all over. Support divisions are sparsely filled out too. Mainstays like Street Stocks have a bunch of "bye" weeks during the season. I look at the schedule carefully before I go.

I took 5/16" out of the middle of the chassis to set the engine back. The gap at the firewall is huge.

BUT... too late on this one, that 5/16" has to be added back in, in front of the motor mounts. Or else the front tires are too close to the headers.

I have to do a post on the coupe I'm working on.

Fantastic looking build Bob.  I'm diggin it dude.

Thanks, I'm doing a coupe now. I also built a Richie Evans coupe for a friend... deals with the devil... that I tried some new things on. The basic kits are lacking in many areas. So it is a lot of work to have them look accurate. Like stumbling on the 5/16" piece to add back in front of the engine mounts. I started a build thread on that, I have to do an update soon.

I have been buying lots of items from Ron Coon Resins. I may have come up with a better header design.
