Deathgoblin Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Here's my take on the Californian kit. It had a LOT of ugly out of the box but the overall shape wasn't bad. First effort was to remove the awful beak it had. Made the entire rear panel the tail lights with a grill over it and made a new rear bumper out of half-round. I filled in part of the panels that went from the quarters into the roof and cut out the side parts to make almost colonade-style quarter windows. 13
Can-Con Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Definite improvement over the box stock kit. I really like what you did with the front and rear end treatments.
ea0863 Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Brian, you absolutely nailed it with this one! I have this kit and have thought how nice the overall shape is - if only the front and rear were different - and here you did a great job with both. Well done, and thank you for sharing. Now I'm inspired to have a go at mine
Bainford Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Huge improvement! I really like what you did with the quarter windows. Nice work.
espo Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Your changes to the body look more like something from the GM Design Studio proposal for the Toronado. 1
Sledsel Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 I was never brave enough to tackle that box of ugliness but wow yours looks good!!!!!!
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 Wow! You definitely made some much-needed improvements.
Street Rod Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Excellent work here! Love the lines on the car, very sleek.
magicmustang Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 (edited) Really liking the changes you made to this. Will probably do similar to my attempt. Could we get a close-up pic of the restyled front end? Edited June 16, 2024 by magicmustang

stavanzer Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Just Superb re-styling of what was a pretty grody custom. As others have said, it looks like a factory design study now. Good Show.

Here's where I'm at on my attempt. Removed the headlights and sanded the beak grill down a bunch. Went with the opera windows (two instead of three), man that was a lot of putty and sanding. Cut out and filled in the rear panel. Like the stock taillight that was on the chrome tree. but I need to shorten it. Any suggestions? Edited October 11, 2024 by magicmustang
Paul Payne Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Great restyling- really looks like a design study and prototype!
rickcaps55 Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 I like it !! the color simple custom look very nice.
