Brutalform Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 I haven’t been away from the board, as I have been checking in from time to time. But the last year was pretty busy for us. We sold our old house, and bought a newer house built in the mid 70s. My wife’s best friends mom sold it to us. It appraised for double of what we paid, but it still needed a lot of work. The only thing that was not involved in the renovations, was the electric water heater. Everything else from the roof and gutters, to the windows and doors, flooring, and a complete kitchen remodel was done. Now I’m at the point where after three dumpsters of demolition, the only thing left now, is the basement vinyl flooring. It’s been a crazy year, but now we are in the house completely and enjoying it. I finally got the model room “almost” finished, as I still want to install a spray booth. You know how it goes, the hobby room gets to be finished last, being on the back burner. Here are a few pics, of what it looked like before all this demo, and during the work process, and where it is now. It’s a great neighborhood and I’m totally happy with everything. Hoping to get some modeling done now. A couple of my builds and WIPs didn’t fare well with the moving, and storage. But I’ll get over it. 10
bobss396 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 How did you get a picture of my kitchen? The only thing missing is the 45 cans of paint on the counters... ?
hedotwo Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Congrats on the new house and your hobby room looks great! 1
papajohn97 Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Wow! What an amazing transformation! Your floor selection is perfect, should be easy to find those small dropped parts! 1
espo Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Great idea to gut the area and start over. Cost a little more going in but pays off in the long run. The white walls really brighten up the room and bounces the light around to make the whole area brighter. You even have a window to vent your spray booth, just need a place to mount it. 1
Paul Payne Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Great looking hobby room! Based on experience. I recommend packing and transporting models in any stage of build by yourself, and transporting them in your own vehicle. I learned that the hard way.......................................................? 1
Rich Chernosky Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Tom...I can certainly identify with this post. I moved back in December to a newer house. 60yrs worth of accumulation, 11 display cabinets, 3 different workbenches and thousands of delicate models. It was not without its pain. Unlike you my house had been completely renovated but I still had to fit all my stuff into a new location. It took a month and a half just for the model room but I am all done and back to modeling. Luv your work area. Well lit, organized and comfortable looking. You will be back creating masterpieces now. 31 minutes ago, Paul Payne said: 1

I did just that. 18 trips with my Subaru Outback (36mi each) Car held a lot of stuff but then I had a lot to move. There were some casaulties along the way but they are all fixed now and I am back in production. 1
Brutalform Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 Thanks for the replies. I was kind of upset that my Pontiac Ventura drag car WIP got ruined, and two Thunderbolts that were built, and a couple of resin bodies. But I’m gonna move on with some new builds. Most of my other WIPs are fine though. I guess it’s not too bad considering the move, the storage, and things getting bumped around. 1
Brutalform Posted May 18, 2024 Author Posted May 18, 2024 Still have to do the flooring in the basement hallway, laundry room, and basement family room. And window, door and baseboard trim throughout the basement. When that’s all done, it will be paint booth, and airbrush time. 1
bobss396 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 I just did a mild clean up of my model stuff. I put away parts and kits I had laying around. I'd say that I have a pretty big styrene-footprint.... Nice weather coming, lots to do outside. I'm going to tackle my dining room table next and put away things that I rarely use.
FoMoCo66 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Nice model room! Looks like you got room for everything. Just one question, whats this project??

That’s a 64 Comet A/FX I’ve been messing with. Looking to build this car pictured here. Using the 65 Moebius, chassis, with some TBolt parts, and interior, except for the 64 dash and steering wheel. The 60 Starliner engine with the dual quad set up with a TBolt air intake. 2

You gonna do a WIP on it because this is right up my alley, and would totally be interested in following. 1
Brutalform Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 I’ll get a few pics tonight, with a mock up, and the few things I have done already. 2
