Street Rod Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Finished my first build in about 35 years this afternoon, the old Monogram 29 Ford roadster. Built a couple of these way back when. It has a few flaws here and there but overall I’m very happy with how it turned out. Built out of the box but I added the metal brace rods for the radiator and didn’t use the hood. Painted with Tamiya flat yellow and flat black and cleared with Mr. Hobby flat clear. I stripped the chrome and didn’t want to fool with using Alclad this time around so I painted the chrome stuff with Tamiya bright chrome silver which turned out ok. This was also my first time painting with an airbrush. 6
Zippi Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 That's a pretty nice looking 29 Ford Roadster pickup Doyle. Great job on the build.
TopherMcGinnis Posted May 18, 2024 Posted May 18, 2024 Nice build! Do you like using the airbrush? The more I use mine the better I like it.

I really do like the airbrush, it was a little tricky for me getting the settings dialed in but that will get easier with time.
espo Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Great clean looking build. The colors work well together.

I decided the box art color combo looked pretty cool and the flat clear would be something a little different. 9 hours ago, Jim B said: Nicely done. Tom Geiger Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 I love those old Monogram 29s! I collect / build the whole set! Nice job! I like the matte look. I also use wire for the metal brace rods.
Flatout Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 (edited) Nice work Doyle! One of my favorite kits, there’s so many ways to build one of these. Yours looks really good in the box art colors with the flat clear and your wood graining is exceptionally nice. Edited May 22, 2024 by Flatout Fix it

My first time using flat clear and I will definitely be using it again, I think it’s easier to work with than gloss. 9 hours ago, Flatout said: Nice work Doyle! Thanks a lot, Pete! The wood grain was done with decals. 1

70 Sting Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 First time painting with an airbrush?! I’d say you’re a pretty, darned-fast learner! You’ve made the return in style. ?
