Monogram ‘29 Ford Roadster Pickup

Finished my first build in about 35 years this afternoon, the old Monogram 29 Ford roadster. Built a couple of these way back when. It has a few flaws here and there but overall I’m very happy with how it turned out. Built out of the box but I added the metal brace rods for the radiator and didn’t use the hood. Painted with Tamiya flat yellow and flat black and cleared with Mr. Hobby flat clear. I stripped the chrome and didn’t want to fool with using Alclad this time around so I painted the chrome stuff with Tamiya bright chrome silver which turned out ok. This was also my first time painting with an airbrush.

Thanks, David! I decided the box art color combo looked pretty cool and the flat clear would be something a little different.

I love those old Monogram 29s! I collect / build the whole set!

Nice job!  I like the matte look.  I also use wire for the metal brace rods.

Nice work Doyle!   One of my favorite kits, there’s so many ways to build one of these.  Yours looks really good in the box art colors with the flat clear and your wood graining is exceptionally nice.

Thank you, Tom! My first time using flat clear and I will definitely be using it again, I think it’s easier to work with than gloss.
