Wakefan77 Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Wes Model Car Corner build (Brian Loftin Southern Tour Mod). Some Hurd Hobby add ons. Thanks for looking. 4
dwc43 Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Nice looking car. I always wanted to try racing one of these cars, but in my area, they restricted us to a narrow tire. Too much engine or a heavy right foot and you could easily burn the tires off the things. I had both issues. We always had too much engine (by the rules legal) and i had the heavy right foot too. lol 1
Volzfan59 Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Great looking modified. I really like the simplicity of the paint job. Two colors, clean lines and clear numbers and sponsor decals. I'm assuming that the 1:1 is the same. Well done @Wakefan77! 1

The pic was taken at Caraway Speedway last fall. The red on my model isn't as bright as it seems. The camera and lighting brightened it up a little. Edited May 23, 2024 by Wakefan77 3

Coyote_6 Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Beautiful model! I especially love the pickup rubber! Just feels like "Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY!!!". (Sorry - that's how all the radio racing adverts started in Wisconsin when I was young and impressionable.) 2
stavanzer Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Boy, the Tires look so real. The car is great! Was it hard to assemble?
TarheelRick Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Very nice looking modified. Never been to Caraway, but have watched them at "the Madhouse" a couple of times. Super clean build. Any tips on how you did the tire treads to make them look well raced? 1
Hurd Hobbies Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Great looking build. Love the Brian Loftin car. You did a great job on it. 1

It wasn't hard to assemble but I made it hard by re-doing some things on the car if that makes sense. You can build these box stock and they aren't that hard once you get the feel for it.

Those tires are from Hurd Hobbies. Sanded them down, sprayed them flat black, and then added some spices from my wife's stash in the kitchen. Sprinkle some spices in the ole paint cap with some flat black and then brush on the mixture. I also added some Tamiya weathering to the tires once everything was dried. 1

Great job, the extra details really look good. I'm working on one of these now, having trouble figuring out the rear axle attachment. Do the tabs on the axle go inside or outside of the springs? Thanks

I just found a Clay Kemp video on YouTube that explains it well. 1

catpack68 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 (edited) Very nice work Randy!?I have one that I want to get started on, but I have way too many projects in front of it.Maybe I will start on it this fall/winter.I want to get a couple of things from Hurd Hobbies for it too. Rattlecan Dan Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 I'm pretty much old school on the modifieds, but that's a darn nice job on this build. Your spices touch to the tires is pretty creative, and realistic. Nice job!
