mrmike Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Since one of my current projects, the AMT '69 Plymouth GTX is almost done, it is time to start on a new one. This time it is the AMT '21 Ford Bronco First Edition. My plan is to paint the body with Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange with a black roof and a black interior. I am a little upset with the fact that this is only a 2 door and not a 4 door since most of the new Broncos around here are 4 doors and not 2 doors SUVs. 1
mrmike Posted May 23, 2024 Author Posted May 23, 2024 Thanks David! I saw someone else's Torino in this color and it does look similar to the color I want and I happen to like orange!
gotnitro? Posted May 23, 2024 Posted May 23, 2024 Fun build, nearly falls together ! Watch the fit of the back cap, mine was warped, needed careful gluing to get it aligned.
mrmike Posted May 24, 2024 Author Posted May 24, 2024 Thanks for the update, Jeff! I'll watch for it.
Zippi Posted May 25, 2024 Posted May 25, 2024 That's going to be a nice build Mike. I have this one in my stash with a set of wheels & tires from a 1/32 Monster truck I'm going to use.
mrmike Posted May 25, 2024 Author Posted May 25, 2024 Thanks Bob! I have a plastic spoon that I sprayed silver and metallic orange on one side and just metallic orange on the other. I think I will use just the metallic orange since it is brighter.

That metallic orange will look nice. I have some new Spash Paint I'm trying and I bought some called Area 51 for this build.
mrmike Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 The paint color Area 51 is a tri-coat blue-gray color. Should look sharp!
mrmike Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 I painted a spoon to see what the color would look like with another color under it and I chose Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange and Tamiya TS-30 Silver Leaf on one side and just Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange on the other. One side was darker overall and the other is lighter and brighter. This is the color I will go with. I started assembling various components, but not painting them yet. 1
Zippi Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 That's looking pretty good so far Michael. I've been playing around with this kit on the side.
mrmike Posted May 30, 2024 Author Posted May 30, 2024 Thanks Bob! This kit seems to be a very nice kit for a curbside. I have my colors picked out-metallic orange for the body, semi-gloss black for the interior and the roof.
gotnitro? Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Good color choice ! They really did a good job molding the Bronco
mrmike Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 Thanks Jeff! There is a little flash that seems to take a while to remove, but the 2021 Bronco does seem to be nicely molded!
mrmike Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) I did a little painting this morning. I did the chassis and part of the interior. I changed my mind on the color of the interior. I'm going with grey for my interior. Edited June 2, 2024 by mrmike 1
slusher Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 I did not know this kit was a curbside. I haven’t seen one to look at yet. Not a deal breaker".
mrmike Posted June 4, 2024 Author Posted June 4, 2024 Yes, the kit is a curbside, but the hood is separate and an engine could be fitted if needed. 1
mrmike Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 I was a paintin' fool this afternoon, until I ran out of paint! I need to get to the hobby shop soon to get more paint! Now to add a second coat of paint to some of the parts that require a second and maybe even a third coat in some places.
mrmike Posted June 19, 2024 Author Posted June 19, 2024 Thanks Carl! I'll have to venture out in the extreme heat and buy some more paint.
mrmike Posted June 21, 2024 Author Posted June 21, 2024 OMG!!! He painted his wheels silver! I painted them silver because I hate black wheels! They blend into the ground and I prefer to have silver or even chrome plated wheels because they are part of the vehicle and they should be seen! The interior and the chassis/suspension are coming along. 2
espo Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 I'm with you on the wheels being painted black whether it is scale or real. Why would anyone want to pay a premium for black painted alloys when they look much better shinny or polished. We used to paint the wheels on our old cars black because we couldn't afford chrome rims. This may be the basses for this feeling. 1
