Hawk312 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 I built this from the ‘86 Revell Monte Carlo kit and added Rays decals. The rear end has been updated to and ‘87, which took a little more effort than you would think to get perfect. The tires are from the 77Trans am MPC kit, which are smaller but still look a little too big, IMO. I took a step back on the detailing, as I had limited time to get this done. 22
kelson Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Beautiful build of a very sharp looking car of the eighties!!?
Curt Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Very nice Monte Carlo, David. I love the paint job. Do you have a shot of the rear? 1
bogger44 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 That is a great looking build! Lovely paint and very clean detailing throughout, and nice to see one in white.
espo Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Beautiful looking Monte. The paint finish is better than anything GM was doing at that time, but the color is spot on. We ordered a new '86 Monte Carlo SS and owned it for 18 years. It was this shade of white with the dark maroon interior. The shape of the taillight reveals, and the decals are slightly different between the '87 and the '86. From what I can see of the interior it looks exact. The engine is detailed just like the real car. These were great cars for what was available at the time and your build look very accurate to my eyes.
XYHARRY Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Very nice paint finish and overall detail. Well done David. Do you have a shot of the rear end? Cheers, David.M ??
polybius Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Very nice work! It's frustrating enough to correct the kit's '86 tail lights but doing the conversion for '87 is surely more tricky. Your build looks great!
Mattilacken Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Sweet! a favorite of mine for sure! I am not familiar with the differences betwen 86 and 87. Do you mind posting a picture of the rear of your build? 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Wow, that paint is amazing! Other than relocating the 3rd brake light, what else was involved in your conversion?
Ragtop Man Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Nothing but net - a box art quality build. Great job!
70 Sting Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 This is a super-nice build! Great shine and finish. ?
Dragonhawk1066 Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Outstanding looking paint job and a beautiful build. I've owned two of these and they're one of my favorite cars!
Hawk312 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 Thanks for all of the kind words guys. I apologize for not having pictures of the back of the car. Here is one just before I pack it away.
