mchook Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Just a quick curb side build. I built this for a local car club to raffle off at their next show. I couldn't figure out if I wanted to build one of my usual weathered builds or something nice, so I did both on one kit. I'm sure this has been done before but it's a first for me. It was a fast fun build. 13
espo Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Ford had a great body style here. Your "before" finish looks great, the "after" finish is very realistic looking rust and deterioration.
FoMoCo66 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Amazing work, the 64 galaxie is one of my favorite cars. So, someone must not have liked the vinal top. Because it ain't there no mo.
Street Rod Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Really cool build! Great work on the weathering, very realistic, and the new side is cleanly done with just the right amount of shine.
XYHARRY Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Cool, "two birds with one stone." Well done Mark. Cheers, David. ??
papajohn97 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 That is really cool and very well done. I’ve seen this technique used on AFV models but never on a car model. Bravo!
karbuildr Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 I would never have thought to do this. Great idea, really cool build.
ncbuckeye67 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 That's really cool! Both versions are most excellent.
Ragtop Man Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Cool idea! Like the contrast between then and now. FWIW, the 1:1 '64s are frequently high mile cars. They were built about as well as a Ford ever got at that time, and just kept running on those FEs and Cruisomatics. So your weathering is just how they look in Marketplace or CL.
mchook Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 Thanks everyone for all the great comments. It's funny, when I built this, I was looking at it as junk first then restored but it makes more sense the way everyone is seeing it. I guess I'm just used to being around junk more than nice cars.
mchook Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 Thanks again guys. Definitely a good slump buster, because I haven't really been doing anything model related in a while.
mchook Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 I just want to say thank you to everyone who "reacted" to this post too. THANK YOU!
