The plan:

Revell '32 Ford Sedan built as a Highboy

Jimmy Flintstone chopped Tudor Sedan Body

Texas 3D Customs blown and Hilborn injected Ardun (no longer!)-Flathead

Halibrand wheels from Revell '29 Ford Model A Roadster kit

Exterior color: Metallic or Pearl Black (will decide after spoon test)

Interior: Oxblood upholstery and carpet

Engine color: Ford Y-Block Red

Looking for ideas on the chassis color, Metallic Dark Red or Metallic or Pearl Black to match the body? Your ideas and input are requested and welcome...

Cool project!

I think I’d decide frame color based on whether I was going for a more traditional looking build or something more contemporary.  Can’t beat a black frame for something old-school, and color-coded to the body makes me think of more of a contemporary build, personally….BUT, it’s a hot rod, so there are no wrong answers ?‍♂️

Nice bunch of parts…should be very cool when finished.  Since you asked, I would go with a black frame and save the red for the engine.  Just an old guy’s 2 cents worth ?  Will definitely be following along.

Sounds like you have a solid plan. I will be following this one.

I like the parts you have lined up for this. As far as the colors, it is all about personal preference. Me, personally, I would color match the frame to the body 99% of the time when it comes to '32s. Unless they are heavily channeled highboys. The '32 Ford is a unique vehicle because it is the only car (at least as I know of) that has a frame that is part of the aesthetic design of the car. So unless I'm building a rat rod, the frame would be same as the body or same as the fenders if they are different than the body. But again, it is totally up to you. I've seen plenty of rods out there with contrasting frames.

About the wheels... If you have them available, I would experiment with the Rat Roaster/ new '32 Roadster wheel/tire combo. First you will have more tire at the rear, which will not only match that huge motor better, but it will visually balance the bulk of that body. Also the fronts are smaller overall diameter than the ones in the '29 kit, which will help you bring the front lower and it will give you a nicer rubber rake. If you're set on the '29 rears, still try them with the Roadster fronts. They would still be period correct and tires are almost the same, but the latter is just a little bit smaller.

As for any suggestions on frame color, may input would be lots of spoon color test runs. For some reason I find the sedan body style more interesting than a normal 3 or 5 window coupes.

Couldn't agree more about the sedan body.

Know exactly how I'm going to build mine as I saw it in 1:1 on last year's Good Guys show in Nashville. And it was very similar to what's on the box art.

Looking forward to seeing this project. The parts you have planned out for this are going to go together really well. I just love old hot rods ?. So I'll be following.

That is a GREAT idea, Mozzi! I do have a couple of the new release '32 Roadsters in my stash and I REALLY like the look of the fatter tires on the rear, plus this version fits my personal tastes more closely if I were building this as a 1:1 car.

 Thank you!

BTW, the chassis will be the same black as the body...

You are really pushing my buttons and are going to end up making me start yet another project. LOL

Maybe we should have a "Tudor Build-off" started on here. ?

I bought the Coke '32 Tudor kit to use as the base for a Flintstone body. After testing out Createx Blood Red Candy over their Copper Flake with a PPG 2K  clear, I decided to build the unchopped version.

Love the idea of doing a Y-Block.  Best wishes for a very fun and enjoyable build!  Cheers....TIM

Yeah, Tim, me too but that's not in the plan. A flathead with the Ardun conversion and a blower on top is.  A Thunderbird 312 with three deuces would be pretty cool.

Blown Ardun works for me too!   Great choice....TIM

Sounds Like a Killer Build, Tim W.

There are some really Neat Parts in teh Revell 29/30 Kits and the 32 Sedan/Coupe kits.

That's a kewl kit Tim.  I plan on building mine with the fat fenders.  Good choice for the engine and wheels & tires.
