This model is probably 10 years old. The flame job is all Tamiya paint, no decals. Topped off with 2K clear. It has earned this model quite few “Box Stock” trophies. The “Family Deuce” four door is actually still not finished, but it will be pretty shortly. The blue one was built 20 years ago by my wife actually. After we moved in together she wanted me to show her how to build a model. It is curbside with no engine detail. The body is actually diecast and used to be a coin bank. We just sat it on top of Revell’s chassis/fenders/grille.
Phildaupho
Thanks Michael for starting this. I just picked up my kit today. Once I finish a previously started Deuce 5W I am going to build a tribute to a local car I like very much. This one tho was masked with BMF, the flames were cut freehand and then painted. I'm not gonna do anything like this any time soon tho, if ever. It was pain in the behind.

So....did you paint the body yellow, and then mask the yellow with BMF, then paint the body purple...or....paint the body purple and then mask the purple and paint yellow flames?

Just like on a real car. Paint everything purple, seal it with clear, sand it, mask it, paint it, unmask it, clear it, sand it, repeat few times until everything is smooth and polish. There are five different colors in these flames. Each flame was shaded individually to achieve the effect. mrm
Fresh out of surgery! The fenders were bobbed in the rear and their boards sanded smooth. The freshly chopped body had any gaps filled with various thickness styrene strips. Then everything was sanded. The roof was first sanded smooth to remove the insert outline and its texture. Some .060 half-round styrene strips were glued to create some rigidity grooves in the filled in roof. They were then sanded down, but I believe not enough. So more sanding tomorrow. 😬 As you have probably guessed already, this is not going to be a traditional old school hot rod. Now off to the putty adventure, before I sand my fingers away tomorrow. 😆

SpeedShift
My brother (Styromaniac on the forum) just attended the 50th Street Rod Nationals in York PA this weekend. Saw this full fendered '32 sedan, among the 3000 plus cars. Edited June 2 by SpeedShift

chunkypeanutbutter
I've got one on the way, and since the $100 free shipping direct from Revell was mentioned earlier, there's a '29 roadster, '30 and '32 5-windows in the box, too. Should be plenty there to make something from 😛 I'm thinking channeled with no chop, skinnies on all corners, maybe a Firedome hemi from the parts box.

The 5-window coming your way has a Hemi in it that will fit the Sedan frame with no mods. If you want to try some really cool parts, our own Maple Leaf Modelworks has some killer accessories for that motor on Shapeways. I’m not associated with him, but can highly recommend his stuff.

It's a concept I have been mulling over for awhile and this seems to be the perfect avenue. I usually go for the more traditional style of build. So, how about the opposite? A more contemporary style. I'm planning on the following: a mild chop, a scale 3" or so, smoothed off running boards, hood sides, one piece hood, filled roof insert, injected SBC with block hugger headers and so on. I'm planning on grafting on the IFS from the AMT Phantom Vickie [sic] kit. I'll post some pix as work progresses... -RRR

So, basically, you are building pretty much exactly what I’m building. So a true build-off. I love it!

Kit Karson
Golly Miss Molly! Holy Moly might have to play along, too! The Revell Deuce Sedan is not an easy subject by any means! Before Revell offered the Deuce Sedan the only other model out there was the Orange Crate! A conversation with Norm Verber over at Replicas and Miniature of Maryland lead me to create a master from the Revell kit for a chopped Tudor Sedan body that would fit the '32 Ford Three Window Coupe kit: This is how it set mocked up back in 2015: ...and it hasn't been touched since! Might be a fair place to start?!. Several years ago, RRR had a very close friend that did some painting for us, and he started a deuce sedan build and never got to finish it. (Sad story... I'll let @Rocking Rodney Rat share it) Anyway, RRR sent me the already chopped sedan body: This was 2013 and a year later the Gangster was completed: Edited June 4 by Kit Karson delete a picture

" Kit, I recall (IIRC) - AMT had both a 32 and a 34 Ford Tudor Sedan. Probably not in general retail release when the Revell kit was out, but they were out there, around the time Revell reissued the "Orange Crate" - ( the reissue with the resin hood to replace the one they butchered to do a "Custom Chopped" '32 street rod). I bought several of the AMT kits back in the day. I can't speak to the quality of either one since right after I bought them, they went into the man cave kit storage closet. Now, if I could only find a '34 woody wagon : Edited June 3 by SpeedShift
