Here’s the first post-paint mock up. Really happy with the color I chose. If you look close you will see that the interior assembly is in the body. Happy to report it fits perfectly thanks to Drag City Casting bodies being the same exact thickness as the kit bodies they’re based on. The more pliable resin body makes installing the interior WAY easier than the stiffer kit Sedan body. Been there, done that! The two interior floor alignment holes align with the two studs on the frame floor of the newer Roadster chassis perfectly. Thank you, Revell.

The only fit issue I’ve run into (and it’s my own fault for not checking during fabrication ?) is after taping the wheel wells into place the body will not fit down onto the frame properly. The “hat” section of the frame floor is a little wider than the other 32 series frames so it doesn’t fit between the Sedan wheel wells. Some strategic trimming will solve this but it’s a bummer to deal with after paint. I would guess this would also be a problem if trying to mount the 32 series 3-Window, 5-Window or even first gen Roadster body on the newer Roadster frame, so be aware if your thinking of those combinations.

Also of note: 1) The roof insert and inside of body will be flat black after I get a fresh can. 2) The body has not been polished or waxed yet.

That's one really nice Deuce, Scott. You can never go wrong with red on '32 Ford, no matter the body style. I like how you kept the interior red too. I actually quite like that. My Sedan was supposed to be originally full fendered and Ferrari Red, but the plans changed dramatically.

If you don't mind telling, where did these headers came from, that you have on your motor? I think they are perfect for street rods as they clear any engine mounts and come together at the back of the motor where you have the most room under the hoods.

Thanks Michael. The headers are small block Chevy downdraft headers from VGC resins. Originally,I wanted to use the block hugger headers from the Revell/Monogram 37 Ford Street Rod kit, but they would not clear the motor mounts on the frame. They are a perfect fit and was just what I was looking for.

That makes sense, as I had never seen them before. I was almost positive they did not come from any kit, but still I had to ask. I am trying to finish mine before the weekend.

I’m going to have to put my 32 Tudor build on hold. When I joined the build off, I decided that I was going to attach the fenders to the frame and paint them all at once but what I didn’t realize is that I did not put the fenders on straight or even?So when I decided to start putting it together today,I realized that the engine was crooked, which threw everything off. If you look close at the picture, you can see the difference. It definitely sucked because I was looking forward to getting this thing done before new deadline.I have already put the frame and fenders in the stripper(91% alcohol) and hopefully they will come apart easily and if not,I have an extra frame and fenders. I was really looking forward to getting this thing finished up soon. Oh well, things happen….

Here is where I am at on my 32. The paint has not turned out as well as I was hoping. During my final assemblies I have been dealing with having to stop fix paint chips & etc. This has left me with a lot of dissatisfaction.

Getting into my final assemblies all I have left to do now is mount the headlight bar and suddenly it’s not cooperating and there’s glue everywhere so I’m stopping at this point.

I am considering starting up another 32 Ford Tudor but maybe as a separate post here on the forum because I think I’m running out of time for the deadline.

This car is going to go back into the box and maybe later this week I’m going to blow it all apart and strip the paint and start from scratch.

I’ve been enjoying the builds here, thank you so much for letting me participate.

That sucks as I was looking forward to seeing your Tudor finished up.i’m in the same boat and I feel your pain.I’m not going to have my Tudor finished before the deadline because of an issue with mine.

Dug through my parts stash and found the extra 32 Ford Roadster chassis/crossmember and 32 fenders.I’m going to change out the firewall to gain a little clearance since I added a wired distributor to the engine.Going to get everything primed this week and hopefully painted by next week. I’m probably not going to make the deadline but I still want to get this thing finished up?

I am in very similar place guys. I was going to finish it on time, but my truck crapped out with its front right brake caliper failing, so I spent all my time arguing with the dealership (they definitely screwed something up) and then trying to fix it and dealing with family stuff. Basically life decided it had different plans for me. I am however going to finish it, meeting deadline or not. And I would strongly encourage everyone else to do the same. The deadlline was just a motivational tool, but I don't want it to backfire and have the opposite effect.

OK guys, getting ready here for round two.
I wasn’t trying to cause any kind of trouble.

i’ve started my parts gathering. Also my inspiration for this build. The second photo is a 32 Ford Tudor that was built by the Rolling Bones Hot Rod Shop. But I’m not going to try to replicate the 241 louvers in the roof insert. Mine will be build along these lines.

we will see how this goes, keep smiling.

Been away from this project for a while. I did manage to get a few things done though. I left off getting the rear wheel tubs squared away. The rear seat needed to be narrowed a bit to fit between the tubs next. Ended up taking out one pleat on each side and adding a filler piece. Got kinda crazy with the first cuts that were made as you can see on the seat back. It all turned out ok though. Still more to do in this area.

IMG_6013.thumb.JPG.cb1b7c084f626eac385568e0261abc0c.JPG

Next up was the rear end. It also needed to be adjusted to fit its new home. I figured out how much to remove and started cutting. The drill bits came out next and holes drilled through the center of the center section and a 1/16 rod was inserted through the housing. The outer ends were drilled, and things went back together. At this point the wheels and tires needed to be picked out before things can move forward. Future plans are for a four-bar setup to mount the rear in place.

I found that the motor mounts were just a bit too bulky, so they were thinned up some. Darn if I still have not decided on an engine yet!

While going through the parts, I found the apron and had to give it a new life. It was trimmed up and fit it to the bottom of the grill shell as you can see. Kind of a cow catcher look, and it holds the front of the fender against the frame better. Still needs more love but it has a good fit so far.

Phase 2 has begun. This is the result of a late night chopping session from last night. Chop has been done in the Rolling Bones style with 5 scale inches out of the back and 5 1/2 scale inches out of the front. Some cleanup is necessary to do, but it’s there. Stay tuned.

Michael, that is an interesting way to make the top cuts but I can see that it would help with alignment and strength. And keeping the back window full height

The Rolling Bones is an excellent build of the Tudor and a good subject to replicate

Thank you for the kind words. I’m still trying to do most of my roof chopping like this.

Pre-war cars and pickups like 1920s  through 1940? will allow itself to go this method. However to chop a roof like a 49 Ford or 49 Mercury or 49 to 52 GM, you might have to do some kind of a variation of this on the A & B pillars.

Kit Karson is one of those who has promoted this method and has perfected it in my opinion.

there are more modifications on the way. Stay tuned.

As work continues, it's time to get this thing up on some rolling stock. Pulled some parts for the front suspension and decided on using the wheels and tires from the'32 ford roadster since I gave up looking for that "perfect" set to use. Maybe these "Are" the ones, I don't know. All the chrome on the front-end stuff was stripped, and the parts were cleaned up. After figuring how I wanted this '32 to sit, some lowering to the front end was necessary. This was an easy task as the spring lost almost 2 Leafs and steering arms moved to a different location on the spindles was all it really took. Instant 4ish" drop. Shocks to be done at a later date with those being the hardest part of adjusting the ride height. At this point, all the parts for the front were assembled as one unit so it can be painted and just dropped in the chassis when done.

Before any work on the rear suspension, I probably should have an engine in place. At this point, just like a decision on the wheels and tires, I'm tired of looking, so the engine out of the kit is what is going to be used. I've been wanting to do this mockup for some time. If you remember back, the body is channeled over the frame, but it is the frame that was thinned lowering the floor into the frame, not moving the floor up into the body. The concern is the transmission fitment. May have to rework the floor. I really don't want to do this, so I'm hoping for the best.

IMG_6193.thumb.JPG.27227568545ca4610c2393fa337ba674.JPG

Well, it almost fits. Tight around the bellhousing. Got the sanding sticks out and reworked the trans tunnel. There is a significant area around the bellhousing area that if removed, there just might be enough room.

IMG_6220.thumb.JPG.9ba74d5a142a2b68ddf0b74d63dd976d.JPG

After reshaping the trans tunnel and the engine in place, everything is working well together. Has lots of room now.

IMG_6208.thumb.JPG.b3bef30e1fc26cef22a7a0e639138e36.JPG

Now, what to do with that engine? I've got an idea or two. Thats for another time. Gotta keep working toward the rear of the car.

Thanks for looking and comments..........

I am so glad to see this thread continue on! The deuce sedan projects featured here are products of some of the best hot rod model builders ever gathered together on this forum! Each one represents the builder vision and ability to bring those concepts and ideas to fruition. Let's continue give each modeler the support and encouragement they are due. These are IMHO some of the best work in bringing each individual Ford Tudor to completion! -KK

Update: some significant progress has been made on my 32.

I have been working on filling some of the gaps in the roof, A, B and C pillars so when I do glue the roof on, there will be no gaps at all. Also, the frame has been modified more to my liking as you can see, I’ve cut the frame horns off the front at the and I’ve pinched the front frame rails. The rear frame rails I have made some cuts and kicked up the rear frame rails.. Lastly, I had to scratch build a 29 Model A rear crossmember because I don’t have any around anymore. More cleanup is scheduled.
