A couple of alternatives: Model Master Plymouth Prowler Purple Metallic PH7 or Testors one coat lacquer #1842M Purple Lucious.  Rustolium Paints has taken over both of these but seem to be reissuing them and can be found at Hobby Lobby and I'm sure elsewhere as well.

Testors Extreme Lacquer works great usually available at Hobby Lobby.

Also Scalefinishes.com paints I used recently with great results; I did buy plum crazy but did not spray that particular color - yet.

If you like airbrushing craft paint - some purple metallic colors are close, try looking at Hobby Lobby & Michaels.

Auto paint supply stores offer paints in spray bombs, sometimes sellers offer on eBay also.

Good Luck!

MCW Finishes

I recently ordered from them, great products, competitive pricing, FAST service and order shipping

I second this.

They are always my first option when looking for a particular color.

Scale Finishes comes in a close second.

Of course these are not an option without an air brush.

You can also get MCW Plum Crazy in enamel in a small jar and thin it yourself for air brushing if you prefer.

Personally, I'd go with the pre-thinned, ready to spray lacquer.

Agreed. If you need a spraybomb, the Testors Purplelicious is a good match to the factory color, especially over a light grey primer.

I'll give another thumbs up to MCW paints, in either their lacquer (excellent) or enamel (also excellent if you like painting with enamels).

curious how the metallic is with the Testors Purplelicious?  They seem to be rather large compared to Tamiya sprays and scalefinishes/mcw

I used the Testors Purplelicious on a '67 Charger that I built. The metallic wasn't all that noticeable and I would have preferred a little more metallic actually.

It is not about the amount of metallic flakes in the paint. Most Testors metallic spray paints from that time had what many modelers perceive as overly large metallic flakes. The paint would look fine on a 1:1 vehicle, but for small model it is basically out-of-scale. Flakes have size which could pass for the glitter-finish on a scale bass boat.  It is not super noticeable viewed in-person, but taking photos of the model, the out-of-scale size of  metallic flakes is readily apparent (to some of us).

Actually looking at the photo of your Charger, the metallic flakes which show up look too large to me.  Again, it is all in the eye of the beholder.  In 1:25 scale, metallic flakes should be barely perceivable. The paint should have more homogeneous metallic look.
