Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 I got this kit mainly because I liked the look of it on the box art. Though I didn't know the hood gap would be that much. Makes for an odd looking truck. The kit isn't that bad, but it's not great either. It went together surprisingly well. Painting it was probably the hardest part. I still don't understand why there was no decal for the FORD on the back of the truck or why there are no inside walls for the truck bed. Makes it look kinda stupid. Still, it came out looking OK. But you got it together and that's what counts. ?
ncbuckeye67 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Your build looks great! I do think it's an ugly truck though. Most of the 60's trucks were some "ugly ducklings" (all of the big three were).
Zippi Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Good looking Ford pickup. I prefer the shortbed but it's nice and turned out pretty good Eric.

It was hard to find one showing the rear so i would know to color the tail gate all red.

A lot of the times it's easier to find a "for sale" listing of the vehicle you want pics of and check those out. A lot of the larger specialty car dealers will have dozens of detail pics of their listings but you can't copy them to post here. Here's a couple listings of '60 Ford pickups with loads of pics, for example,, https://classiccars.com/listings/view/1751444/1960-ford-f100-for-sale-in-smithfield-rhode-island-02917 https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/103160907
espo Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Great looking truck and looks much like they did at the time. As Can-Con, Steve, pointed out that's the way they were including the ill-fitting hood from the factory. I had to go under the hood on a few of these years ago. One hood hinge would want to work, and the other didn't. You had to wiggle them a little as you lifted the hood, and you had better have eaten your Wheaties that morning because they weren't light. You did capture the look of the truck and the 3x2 was a popular thing to do at one time. The colors all look like the original and the stance and the wide white walls look good.
Sledsel Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Looks good. That hood gap is pretty much correct. you could sand the bottom of the hood to reduce it a little but not affect the other alignment. Gotta remember it is tooled from the original kit.
XYHARRY Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Nice colour combo, looks great. Well done Eric. Cheers, David. ??
