stavanzer Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 I want to Build a couple of Bond Cars. Are there Tamiya Spray Cans that will work for the Interior and exterior colours? Thanks!
Matt Bacon Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 (edited) The interior’s basically black. Semi Gloss for the leather, Matt for the carpets and dash. If you want to add some interest you can use NATO Black and/or Rubber Black for some parts (eg dash top). The exterior is NOT silver. “Silver Birch” is actually an opalescent grey, with no visible flake. Gloss Aluminium is OK, Light Grey Fine Surface Primer or Royal Grey with Pearl Clear over the top in light coats would work… do a spoon test to check it looks as you want. When I did mine, I used a Zero Paints Pearl white with literally one drop of very dark blue in an airbrush jar of paint, and then added black a drop at a time until it looked right to me. best, M. Thank You, Very Much, Matt. Right now, I don't own an Airbrush, so I am stuck with Rattle Cans or Brush Paints (Ugh). Good knowing that I can use Black on the interior. I'll stick with a couple of shades to give it interest.
PappyD340 Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 If you have an airbrush check out Scale Finishes, Jameston has six different Bond car colors and silver birch is one of them.

Pappy, I Thank You for your most Excellent Suggestion, but as I said, I don't use an Airbrush, only Spray Cans. That I why I was asking about Tamiya Colours.
stavanzer Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 Would Tamiya's Light Gunmetal, or Aluminum Silver be a good match for the 007 Car?

I think if you mean TS-17 Gloss Aluminium then yes. If you’re talking about AS-12 Bare Metal Silver then no, it’s too bright. The Light Gunmetal is actually quite dark, and too dark for Silver Birch. best, M.
stavanzer Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 Ts42 Light Gunmetal, and TS17 Aluminum are the Two I was referring to. Thank You, Matt. I'll order the TS17. https://www.modelroundup.com/product-p/tam-ts17.htm
JNordgren42 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 This is a fortuitous thread, I just saw the new(ish) Revell 1/24 007 DB5 and since I've always loved that car, I thought it would be a great build. Scale Finishes bookmarked for future reference. 2
stavanzer Posted August 6, 2024 Author Posted August 6, 2024 I just got my 007 Kit today & my Can of TS-17 Paint. Now I can start on it. 1
slusher Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 I would use Tamiya semi gloss on the interior. I always keep a can of Testors dull cote on hand and a botlle of gloss cote it’s for brushing. You can get those at hobby lobby.
Bugatti Fan Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 (edited) Alan, for future reference if you only use aerosols, try to look up specialist classic automotive paint suppliers. Many can make aerosols with the correct matching colour for you. Model colours have already been suggested in this thread that you are running with and the TS17 that Matt recommended already is a good bet to use. Edited August 6, 2024 by Bugatti Fan
