rattle can man Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 I was digging in the stash for some parts and came across this. First I thought Tiger shark, then Dream Rod, but it is neither. Any ideas? it was part of a junkyard auction lot.
rattle can man Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 I'm not sure if it is a front or rear panel. no markings. I don't have any parts associated with it.
rattle can man Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 I'm not familiar with Palmer kits. Most of my stash is kits from the mid-70's and up.
Can-Con Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 It's the custom tail panel from the AMT '62 Corvette styline kit. 1
rattle can man Posted July 20, 2024 Author Posted July 20, 2024 Thank you! Now I might see if I can use it with the custom wagon roof from the '67 AMT kit. It might be an interesting combo. 1
bisc63 Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Nice find, Can-Con! I wonder how long since those custom parts were available? I don't think I've ever seen them.
rattle can man Posted July 21, 2024 Author Posted July 21, 2024 As a note, I tried matching it up to an AMT '67 Vette. It fit over the stock rear body work. I will have to figure out how to deal with the blending the thickness of the plastic in. without losing body details. creating new grills shouldn't be too hard. But before commencing a build, I need to figure out a custom front end.

Those parts were only in the annual hardtop kit (which, BTW, did not include a stock hardtop--only a custom fastback). The annual kits had an opening trunk lid too. The reissue '62s differ greatly from the annuals.
rattle can man Posted July 22, 2024 Author Posted July 22, 2024 Yes. I have '67 annual (I believe that was the year anyway) that had the Station wagon top. A custom Vette is on my build list, but way down the list.
