TransAmMike Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 OK fellow forum members, I present to you my latest victim. Work started on this one two months ago. In my opinion this is a kit that needs a lot more work than I'm capable of to correct the numerous flaws and/or inaccuracies. The firewall fit is a terrible design, the panel lines on both doors at the front of the door above the trim is almost non-existent, the engine exhaust headers are downright ugly and the driveshaft has no u-joints. I did use nice Ron Coon Resin U-joints on the build. I reiterate, these issues can be corrected by you guys' with more skills than I possess. As for the panel line issue, I did get it scribed pretty well but only after totally botching the original body so bad I couldn't get it repaired. Thanks to my loving wife for buying me a another kit for a new body. Anyway, the actual build is basically OOB with no mods. Paint is Anita's Metallic Black craft paint over Mr. Hobby Surfacer 1500 black and cleared with Tamiya X-22. The Metallic is super fine gold and not visible in the picture. Wheels are from Comp Resins (purchased from Slixx Decals). The rear tires are MT N50's from Fireball. And it's a wrap. Thanks all for looking? 15
Zippi Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 That is Super nice looking there Buddy. Those wheels and tires look really kewl and I'm diggin the moon tank in front of the radiator. Nice build.

espo Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Beautiful looking paint finish and color. The black paint work doesn't hide any body flaws. The chrome body trim is all cleanly done. Like the wheels and tires.
DJMar Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Talk about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear! You made this kit shine, and you nailed the look.
Nacho Z Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Fandamntastic!! Really a great build of a not so great kit. You should be proud of her!
stavanzer Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Black is Famously Hard to get a clean, shiny finish from. You nailed it! Awesome Paint ,and the stance is right. I don;t think I've seen the old Monogram Badman ever look as good as your version. Top Notch Work. Good Show.
PappyD340 Posted July 21, 2024 Posted July 21, 2024 Killer 55 Mike, man it looks wicked in black, very well done!!

I just can't help myself with the use of TorqThrust or Crager 5-spokes.? 20 hours ago, DJMar said: Talk about making a silk purse out of a sow's ear! You made this kit shine, and you nailed the look. Appreciate the compliment DJ. Oh yeah, not a great old kit but does have some nice wheels that I didn.t use. 20 hours ago, carrucha said: Nice work. I like the color combo. Thanks Hector. This is the third time I used the Anita's Metallic Black craft paint with a great result every time. 11 hours ago, PappyD340 said: Killer 55 Mike, man it looks wicked in black, very well done!! Ha Kyle, you're the first to comment on the flames. I'm not a flame guy but I saw those in my decal stash and thought they would be cool. Thanks! Edited July 22, 2024 by TransAmMike
