WillyBilly Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I was not sure where to ask this question, so asking it here. I am looking for a hobby shop online that gets new release products and is legitimate. What do you guys recommend? Is Kings Hobby in Texas a good place to order from? Thanks
Dave Van Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I like Hobbylinc........never any issues. Good deals 1
tim boyd Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I recommend Spotlight Hobbies, Model Roundup, and Model Cave (a local hobby store in Ypsilanti, Michigan). I've done business with all three and they are top notch. I'm sure there are many others out there that also provided great service....TB
stinkybritches Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I have used the following with great service provided: General hobby shop and aftermarket parts - Scalehobbyist, Spotlight Hobbies, Model Roundup, Mega Hobby, Hobby Nut Models, Burbank's House of Hobbies, Ted's Modeling Marketplace. Paint - Splash Paints, Scale Finishes, MCW Paints Decals - IndyCals, Pattos Place These are the places that I have used the most.
niteowl7710 Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Kings Hobby is a brick and mortar hobby shop in Austin, so they're a legit place. My suggestion would be find something as close to you as possible so the shipping works in your favor, or some place that has a feasible (Like $50) spending minimum to get free shipping.
stavanzer Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I'll Chime In, about Model Roundup. I have had nothing but Great Service from them. And Spotlight Hobbies. Only one deal with them, but When a Kit Body was broken, they replaced it. {1960 Johan Plymouth Wagon, no less. And Tom sent me a spare body for it, no problem} But, Spotlight has "Improved" their Sales Listings Pages, and I find the new layout they use makes it very hard for me to browse the kits for sale the way the webpage is now set up. Your experience may be much different than mine.
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I've been using Mega Hobby. They seem to get new stuff fast and have descent pricing.. Though, I normally just wait for things to come to eBay.
WGaree Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 my go to online shops are hobylinc, spotlight, model roundup, scalehobbyist-mainly for scratch building materials, tools, and painting supplies- and for my jdm itch hlj (hobby link japan) all offer great service however hlj’s international shipping charges can get pretty high for large orders
jaymcminn Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Model Roundup has great service and an excellent selection. I like Spot Model (Spain) for aftermarket stuff and HLJ as well as Plaza Japan for Japanese kits. Micro Mark is my go-to for tools.
Rob Hall Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I've used Model Roundup, Spotlight Hobbies, Hobby Search, Hobby Link Japan, Auto World Store, and Diecast Models Warehouse for years w/ no problems. More recently used Wes' Model Corner and Burbank's House of Hobbies (through their eBay store). I've used Megahobby and Hobbylinc occasionally but they are hit-and-miss as far as selection and slow with backorders I've found.
Justin Porter Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 While not as big as some of the others like Model Roundup or Wes' Model Corner, I do like to think that I do a pretty good job of e-commerce through my shop's website for Haven Hobby in Elyria, Ohio. 1
rickcaps55 Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 I do all my ordering from Model Roundup and Spotlight Hobby never a problem and fast delivery if it's stock.!
Matt T. Posted August 2, 2024 Posted August 2, 2024 Scale Hobbyist (best prices on new kits) Model Roundup Spotlight Hobbies
sfhess Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) Burbank's House of Hobbies. Edited August 3, 2024 by sfhess 1
Radretireddad Posted August 3, 2024 Posted August 3, 2024 (edited) Pegasus hobbies in SoCal still has the OOP Model King/Moebius 1966 short wheel base F100 for the price of an in production kit. Great service, great price. Thanks to them my Moebius F-series collection is now complete. Edited August 3, 2024 by Radretireddad
mikemodeler Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 My go to is Wes's Model Car Corner as logistically he is the closest with great prices and service. He does a live show most Thursday evenings at 8:00 PM Eastern time on his Facebook page to show new kits and offer commentary on them. He also covers upcoming releases and news. Others that I use, in no particular order: Pegasus Hobbies- some kits, but mostly for their wheels. Burbank Hobbies- kits, magazines, wheels and Japanese kits. Hobbylink- kits and supplies. They have great service but tend to take longer to process orders which is not a problem for me as I am slow builder. Modelroundup- kits and supplies, Jack and his team offer great service and competitive pricing. I have never had an issue with any of the above vendors that wasn't resolved quickly and satisfactorily. Despite living in a large metro area I am without a traditional hobby shop and therefore rely on local shows or the internet to get my fix. I suggest you search them to see if they have stuff you are looking for and decide for yourself which one works best for you. 1
Modelbuilder Mark Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 I have had great luck and prices with Burbank's House of Hobbies 1
