ewetwo Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 (edited) This was my younger brother’s car. Badly chipped. What tires it had kept falling off. If you have old Matchbox cars some of the tires do seem to fall off for some reason. Found vendors on eBay who make replacement tires and decals. So it’s restored. I have an extra set of tires as you had to buy 2 sets. Fit the Lotus racer also I think. Edited August 5, 2024 by ewetwo 4
Gramps46 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 thanks for sharing this. I had not seen one of these before.
1959scudetto Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 This was my favorite Matchbox model, together with the Ferrari Berlinetta Lusso - I had both in 1966 as a kid. 1
Phirewriter Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 (edited) Nice! There's a company in Australia called Recovery Toy. They list an enormous amount of replacement parts for Matchbox, Corgi, Dinky and more. It can be a bit of a wait but they're great to deal with. Edited August 9, 2024 by Phirewriter
ewetwo Posted August 10, 2024 Author Posted August 10, 2024 (edited) Thank you Gary, Helmut and Michael. I still have all my Matchbox cars. Most in their boxes. A carry case. The fire house. The Matchbox City. The Matchbox Car carrie. And my Corgi and Dinky cars. At almost 70. I don't know what to do with them all. I hate to let them go but no one in the family wants them. Phirewriter Posted August 10, 2024 Posted August 10, 2024 (edited) You've got some really nice pieces David! The K-8 transporter is hard to find in the early release colors not to mention the box, nice!! There's some rare color variations I spy as well, some are transition cars when Matchbox started to change production to Super Fast from "regular wheels" My late father in addition to building models, collected diecast since the 50's and passed down his hobby passions to me. I collect pre-'77 Matchbox, most series including the bigger King Size, Speed Kings, etc... I've also collected redline Hot Wheels and Topper Johnny Lightnings most of my life plus various other vintage diecast that flips my switch from the late 50's to the mid to late 70's. I always enjoy seeing other people's collections. These are a few I pulled off my rack. I bought commercial pizza racks years ago from a friend who worked in the restaurant supply industry and store anything I don't have on display in labeled pizza boxes. ewetwo Posted August 11, 2024 Author Posted August 11, 2024 You have a lot of nice cars Michael. A few of the Corgi cars I've restored back to original and have used Recovery Toys for parts I need. Like tires and windows. Like to post.

I have the ford flatbed that hauls the bull dozer. I lost the dozer so I will find one on eBay sometime I had it since I was a kid.
1959scudetto Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 I lost or damaged all of my Matchbox/Lesney cars long ago. 30 years ago I could buy an almost mint Berlinetta Lusso with a nice box and about 15 years ago the Major Pack Hendrickson double freighter that was a gift from my father almost 60 years ago (good condition with a fair/tatty box): These are my only classic Matchbox models. 1
