Warren D Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 I found this on ebay a year or two ago, I've never seen anything like it before or since. Unlike the former Keystone offerings, this is more or less complete (Keystone just had the tank and in a later offering I seem to recall they included a frame). The wheels/tires that came with it seem small, and as they are only 2 hole, I replaced the wheels with a set of Jamie's 5 hole trailer wheels. The resin casting is quite good and required much less work than the Keystone 3D print. I shortened the hose holders along the sides and added electrical wiring as seen in the movie. A couple more details were added to the back and the middle set of running lights needed to be relocated. The tank ribs were too heavy so they were removed and replaced with some 0.015 stock. I'm waiting for the paint to set up, Pollyscale silver seems to need more time to cure than their other colors. Decals and detail painting and it should be done. 2
Jürgen M. Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Looks pretty good! Will there be a black Mack to join it? I'm a big Convoy fan and always interested in everything concerning the movie! I'll be watching! ?
Force Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 If you are picky the suspension is wrong. This trailer is a Trailmobile asfalt/bitumen trailer and had Trailmobile's own suspension with triangular "walking beams" connecting the rear part of the leaf spring packs on both axles. 1
Jürgen M. Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I´m not picky at all. My trailer and the truck are far from being identical to the movie vehicles. To me the main impression counts when its finished and on the shelf. You would find lots of mistakes on mine. I´m sure the trailer will be very nice when finished. I´m watching with pleasure! ?
Rockford Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Interesting project, be good to see it take shape. I'm assuming it's 1/25 scale? That Trailmobile suspension seems unbelievably and needlessly complicated! 1
