Thanks! I have no idea who cast it, but they did a good job.  Lots of resin, though.  I thought the all-resin AITM Mark R700 was heavy but it feels light compared to the trailer.

Nice rig!

Was the R.D. Mack a complete resin kit or did you put it together from resin and box parts?

Hope it's OK if I show you mine here?

The Mack was the AITM kit, but I made lots of mods to get it closer to the unit 1 truck.  There is a build thread for it here several years back.

As a great Convoy fan I must say it's a great rebuild of one of my favorite trucks!

Will you build other Convoy trucks too?

Thanks.  I have the Widow Woman's trailer done, Brockway 361 is stalled for door decals.  Someone said they had them but wouldn't sell them until they finished a couple of small details.  That was 2 years ago.  I also have Pig Pen's Mack in progress but the decals are holding it up again as the colors on the ones from a popular vendor are out of register.  I have plans for the bus but the guy who casts the bus body no longer makes them.

That sounds promising!

I built 6 Convoy trucks in all. Now there's no more room!

I just finished the "Bruhn Trucking" K100 about two months ago. Before that I built Big Nasty. You can find them all on this board!

Pig Pen, Spider Mike and Widow Woman are also on the shelf!

Can't wait to see yours!

Jurgen, why not put a post up with a complete set of pictures of your 'Convoy' trucks in it. Your Rubber Duck Mack featured here is a really nice model.

A few years back a guy named Alistair McLaughlin over here in the UK was developing a multi medium transkit for the Duck's Mack to correct the Ertl kit. I saw his model made up at the UK  Model Truck Show at Gaydon and looked good. He showed me the transkit he was developing at the time but not sure if he ever went into production with it or not.

That makes sense! The original Ertl R.D. kit is not at all similar to the movie truck.

Actually I already have posted my Convoy trucks in "Under Glass". I think the Titel was "Convoy"!

If you like, I can of course send you some "making of. " pics.

Warren you really captured the look of the movie rig! Excellent work on this one!!

Interesting note; I've seen the surviving movie trailer in person. The inside and underside were all hollowed out to cut weight. You could literally get inside from underneath. I was told that it was to improve the truck's acceleration during the action scenes.

Yes this is the inside of one of the two movie trailers used and the one restored and with us today.
They cut out the inner steel tank and left the outer aluminum skin braced with angle iron, the trailer was originally an insulated  asphalt/bitumen trailer used to transport hot bitumen to asphalt plants.
Another interesting thing is that they had Fruehauf Albuquerque mud flaps clearly visible on one trailer...the trailer is in fact a Trailmobile, not a Fruehauf.

Yeah, I have seen photos of the trailer from the bottom, just a few (too few!) bracing rods inside.  I guess to be accurate to the movie, I should have hollowed it out!!!  Thanks for the compliment

You need the doors decals of the "Widow" Brockway?

Print this one a decal sheet! ?

OK, it needs a bit of cutting but it's just like in the movie!

Hope it helps ya!

I wasn't meaning that you should have done anything different. I wouldn't have hollowed it any more than I would have added cameras to the truck. It looks perfect!! I just thought that it was interesting when I saw it and thought that I would share it. Excellent work for sure!!

No worries, I never thought you were suggesting I hollow it out.  There are those that would, however!  LOL!!
