Perfect storm, two people that really wanted it. The guy that lost out was "out" three or four times by the time it was over. I think that same car sold a couple of years ago for considerable less, like under two million.

1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona Destroys Auction Record With $3.3 Million Sale (msn.com)

Kinda funny how the doom-n-gloomers have been bleating about the bottom falling out of the classic car market.

Maybe for the 3rd or 4th string cars, but the top-end cars tend to hold value pretty well ...most of the time, sorta.  ;)

ONE of my other hobbies, Model railroading in O3r, has gone way out of hand. Back in the 1990's I could get a new loco $300. Now they are crossing the $2500 range. Yes...more stuff in them, more sounds etc......but I have given up buing anything new. Thx

One of my custom painted 'cheap' locos. Painting model cars pays off!!

Your right.....

I have the Revell '69 Daytona Charger kit and I could build a replica of the one that sold for $3,000,000.00 for waaaaay less than the real one...??

That's ok.. There was also a '69 GT-40 that sold for over $7,000,000.00 which I believe was a record...

Kinda makes me sick really.....??

I saw that too.  It was presented as a pristine original, but it was P1080 and had a rough life racing in Angola.  The nose in particular had been broken into pieces.
