maxwell48098 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Isn't that the equivalent of $2,000,000 in 2019 dollars? Should have bought it back in 2019. ? 1
imarriedawitch Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 (edited) Perfect storm, two people that really wanted it. The guy that lost out was "out" three or four times by the time it was over. I think that same car sold a couple of years ago for considerable less, like under two million. Ace-Garageguy Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Kinda funny how the doom-n-gloomers have been bleating about the bottom falling out of the classic car market. Maybe for the 3rd or 4th string cars, but the top-end cars tend to hold value pretty well ...most of the time, sorta. 1
deuces wild Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 That's ok.. There was also a '69 GT-40 that sold for over $7,000,000.00 which I believe was a record... Kinda makes me sick really.....??
Dave Van Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 ONE of my other hobbies, Model railroading in O3r, has gone way out of hand. Back in the 1990's I could get a new loco $300. Now they are crossing the $2500 range. Yes...more stuff in them, more sounds etc......but I have given up buing anything new. Thx One of my custom painted 'cheap' locos. Painting model cars pays off!! 5

I have the Revell '69 Daytona Charger kit and I could build a replica of the one that sold for $3,000,000.00 for waaaaay less than the real one...?? Edited August 18, 2024 by deuces wild 1

The nose in particular had been broken into pieces. 1
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Sad thing is that the charger won't be driven because it's so valuable. It's an investment. 1
Mike 1017 Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Here is the article. As my wise father proclaimed, "it takes money to make money". Mike 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona Destroys Auction Record With $3.3 Million Sale (msn.com)
