NYLIBUD Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 I didn’t build this Funny car,& I’m not sure what scale it is,maybe 1/18th.Anyway,it’s completely made of plastic.Found it at a swap meet this past weekend.Really detailed.Paid $5,yup.Threw it right up on the shelf. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 (edited) Read the tire sidewalls. 95% chance the nominal required rim diameter will be right there (on the front it will probably be 15...but that might depend on the age of the car; I've seen search results saying the current rule is 17, but all I've ever seen is 15). https://gonitrolink.com/shop/wheels/goodyear-frontrunner-funny-car-tires/ Get your calipers out and measure the actual diameter where the tire seating surface would be. It's pretty easy to approximate if you've ever seen a real wheel.. Divide the first number by the second number. That will tell you what scale it is. jokar124 Posted August 30, 2024 Posted August 30, 2024 I believe this model is one of a series of 1/16 Funny car models made by a company called Milestones. if so, the body is actually made of fiberglass: 2

These were expensive when they came out and are very expensive on the aftermarket now (some $300+). $5 is an insane deal! I have the Scotty Cannon Oakley Firebird. They also produced 1/16 top fuelers. 1
Street Rod Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 That’s a cool car, you made a great score! 1
Straightliner59 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Excellent score! Those were designed by Tom West. He, of course was one of the major players in Aurora's Racing Scenes series. He also helped bring us the early-'80s MPC FCs. 1
iBorg Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Tom never mentioned the MPC kits to me.....just his irritation at the Aurora Pinto body being changed from his drawings. 1
NYLIBUD Posted September 6, 2024 Author Posted September 6, 2024 Wow,I guess i really did make a good score. It seemed that the guy just wanted to get rid of it.We both obviously didn’t realize how rare they were. The body designs are different though.Just glad i was in the right place at the right time. Thanks all for the info. 1
Maurice Henderson Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I think it's 1/24 scale because I have this die cast plus 3 other Don Schumacher Funny Cars that Whit Bazmore drove for him..The detail is the same on all my die cast..I have about 40 Top Fuel, Funny Car and Pro Stocks in my collect..My good friend and fellow Air Force veteran Fast Jack Beckman drove for Schumacher and now is driving John Force's car.

Oh yeah, he had some stories! He was responsible for hacking the Stock Car Charger 500 into the General Lee! LOL! Then there where the Revell stories..... But yes, Milestone was his baby after working with Action Collectibles. Lots of cool stuff. 1
