I Agree for the amount of Money we send on them and the one I just can't get over is the Tail light not having red lenses .

Tamiya X-27 will take care of that just fine. Much prefer that to trying to mask and paint slender bezels on molded lenses.

As to the wheels, they're not great but I see folks forgiving much worse wheels in other kits. Wheels are easy enough to rectify for the builders who want to, and honestly I get the impression a LOT of these are going to end up on Torque Thrusts or Cragars or Keystones.

The only thing I can find wrong is the propensity for molding all the wheels with insufficient negative offset. That’s fine for skinny stock tires or drag fronts but it’s annoying seeing a wide rear slick or tire on a wheel with the face almost flush with the outer tire sidewall. It’s an important detail that I think really affects the overall look of the finished kit.

Thank you. I was going to scrounge a set of old MPC steelies for my '65 Belvedere movie cop car; they're deep enough that the hubcaps won't stick out.

AMT had been guilty of this too - their '50 Chevy pickup and '37 Chevy coupe especially.

The AMT ‘50 Chevy pickup has other big issues as well. Assembled out of the box the ride height is way too high and both front and rear axles are too wide. It’s really irritating when glaring flaws like these mar otherwise decent kits. If I’m faced with having to spend more time correcting the kits design flaws or replacing kit parts, it becomes less likely that I’ll give the kit any priority.

So, to do the Coronet as a base grocery getter, has anyone put a Lindberg slant six in one of the previous Moebius Mopars and how's the fit?

You'll be the first, Chris!

Or what's your experience or secret Erik?

Only secret is to get it, I think you've got how to use it.  Experience is in the past I made my own with acrylic flow enhancer (any art supply store will have this) and acrylic paint.  Don't go to heavy on the flow enhancer or it takes forever to dry.  Nuln oil is pre-mixed to a very usable tint, so easy-peasy-lemon-squeezie.

Got my 2 last week. Wish the tires were the same Narrow ones as in the Satellite for the Coronet and Belvedere sedans.

Since the Belvedere shows a Father and 3 kids I was thinking this was a Cheap family sedan, not a Street Race car.

Will we eventually get a Sedan with Bench seat instead of front buckets???

What about Stock forward exhaust pipes??

Can't afford 4 Satellite kits just for the tires and pipes!!!

Would I be wrong to say the Moebius stock Coronet is a Delux  model ? 1965 Dodge Coronet Deluxe for Sale at Auction - Mecum Auctions

Yeah, it would be wrong...note that the model kit is missing the 1/1's lower bodyside molding which was a key feature of the Deluxe trim level that year vs. the base (non-Deluxe) Coronet two door sedan.

Actually, the Moebius kit is really an A990 Coronet (factory drag racer) that has been mildly tweaked for street duty.  Note the A990 interior door trim panels and front buckets, for instance.  The A990 did not have a rear seat, but the kit does, an example of how the model represents a mildly "streetified" piece.

Having said that, using this kit as the basis for a fully correct Deluxe two-door sedan as you have pictured in your post would not be too difficult - the inside door/quarter trim panels and the front seat being the biggest challenges, and the Lindberg 1964 B-Body slant six engine would be a natural under the hood.  Wonder who will be the first one to attempt a project like that?  Thanks for the post....  TB

Ok thx Tim for clearing that up  , what is confusing me is this kit is not a Coronet 440  or 500  and only with the Coronet emblem on the front fender make me think it was a Delux  Amt's kit is a Coronet 500 .

Here's a military modeler's DIY: https://d6combat.com/diy-washes-contrast-paint/

I haven't tried it but it appears to be OK. I use Kodak Photo Flo (prevents water spots on water-rinsed photo film) for making "wet water" on diorama scenery* -- it performs the same function as dish detergent except that it doesn't have degreasing, fragrance, etc. ingredients.

*It keeps thin water/glue solutions from beading up, it is not used to simulate water.

Heard from Dave Metzler yesterday; for those of you who do not know Dave, he is one of the key movers and shakers in the Moebius outfit and played a very key role in the development of the new Coronet kits.

Dave mentioned that the intent of the red car box art was to revisit the "Little Old Lady In Pasadena" story as depicted in the 45rpm single from Jan and Dean, and later on in the Southern California Dodge Dealers Association ads that ran on TV back in 1965.  Note the car, the old garage in the background, et al.

This visual reference totally escaped me, but having heard the intent, I think it is totally cool and shows the effort and spirit the Moebius team puts into their products....

After taking a second look at the "Stockish" Dodge, and Belvedere 1, I am VERY disappointed in both.

Neither can be built Factory Stock out of the box, (Where can I get the Stock parts??)

Also, Both Dodge sedans and the Belvedere have IDENTICAL interior panels and front Bucket seats,

the Coronet sedan and Belvedere also share the rear bench seat!!

The boxart for the Belvedere makes me think this kit Should be a base level family 2dr sedan Not a "Streetable" Dragster!!

So.............until Factory stock versions of these come out (like NOT go to happen)  Mine are up for trade/sale!!

I DON'T want them11

Can't make an LAPD police cruiser out of that Dragster Belvedere!!

The box art for the 65 Dodge A990 plainly depicts a super stock build.  In my opinion, no deception there.  Not sure why one would beleive that a mainstreamer or family 2 door sedan can be built from this kit.  Moebius never stated or eluded that a factory stock version could be built.

Look forward to building this Dodge. I still can hear that Jan & Dean music in my head after reading this here. I have built the Belvedere I kit and think it was special as well.

I knew the Red boxart kit could Not be built stock, But Hoped that The Other one,

(blue Sedan boxart) Could be built as a Cheaper version factory stock Dodge. Sadly No

The Belvedere  kit boxart shows a Father with 3 kids coming out of a Toy store, So..............

I guess I am rather Stupid thinking that would NOT be a Dragster!!

How soon before "Daddy" Kills Most if not all those Kids????

The Only kit of the series I like is the Satellite. Surprisingly, it is Fully Factory stock

For the 1/1 scale A990 Dodge and Plymouths that form the basis of these kits had identical seats and interior door/quarter panels, so the respective kits are indeed correct in that regard.

Having said that, I still understand your disappointment that the kits cannot be built in exact 1/1 scale showroom stock base series configurations.  However, if you look at Moebius' current business model (how many derivatives of the F=Series bumpside kits have now been introduced???), I would not be completely surprised if such a model kit might appear at some point in the future.  (For the record, though, from what I know there are a number of pretty cool projects underway at Moebius, but a showroom stock Coronet is not among them at this time).

The only thing remotely "pedestrian" about the A-990 is the dashboard with that radio ( a true A-990 is a factory racecar - no radio, no heater, no rear seat, no inner headlamps , no undercoating / sound deadening , no jute backing for the carpeting ,  and a single wiper . Aluminium fenders and hood and hood scoop (fiberglass was not permitted for 1965) ; Lexan door glass and backlite... and that kit-correct single exhaust , as well as a spare tyre ).

Those cars were lightweight rattletraps , not at all meant for street operation ( 4.89 ratio 8.75" rear , "Crash box" 4-speed or reverse-pattern manual valve body - on the steering column ! - Torqueflite ).

I only wish that Moebuis would've provided a Torqueflite as an option. Heck , the oil pan for the 727 is on one of the parts trees !

It would seem that the A/FX Dave Stickler version includes the dashboard-sans-radio - maybe a resin caster / 3-D maven will offer that at some point ?

honestly im with you on the blue kit offering, although i only have the red a-990 race version,i was under the assumption that the blue one was a stock family sedan type? while we are at it can someone educate me on the single headlights vs the dual headlights on some of these coronet cars?

Weight saving move, and only for the A-990. Some of the owners added back the inboard lamps (high beams on the pedestrian models) .
