64Comet404 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 Has anyone seen confirmation of this, or is this a prank? And if real, when are the race versions appearing? I want one in the Pfaff Motorsports 'lumberjack' scheme! ? https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-24370-porsche-911-gt3-rs--1573765 4
Nacho Z Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 I Googled the kit number and it showing up as a pre-order on at least one site.
dbostream Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 I came here to post this too. Cannot find any other source. If true I am very excited about this kit been waiting for someone to make the current gen 911. 1
Bennyg Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) It’s probably true. Tamiya is due for a modern Porsche and Tamiya still seems to have a Porsche licence. I’ll definitely be getting at least 1. Hopefully it will have full engine detail. Ben Edited September 3, 2024 by Bennyg Extra info
Radretireddad Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 That will be an amazing kit if Tamiya is really tooling it.
niteowl7710 Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 A serious chunk of the upcoming Tamiya R/C stuff is Porsche themed, so it wouldn't be impossible to believe. Plus there is the big fall Hobby Show in Tokyo coming up and pre-orders for that will be announced this week (Hasegawa for example will be tomorrow [Tuesday 9/3] at 11pm Eastern). So it'll be official in short order. 1
Zoom Zoom Posted September 4, 2024 Posted September 4, 2024 (edited) Told my buddy who has a Stevens account about it, he called his sales rep who confirmed it and they added it to their pre-order list at $47 retail. Looking forward to seeing more from the hobby show and Tamiya's own website. Edited September 4, 2024 by Zoom Zoom
Alegitbot Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 greatly look forward to this, the Tamiya performance car kits are always top notch.
iamsuperdan Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Holy moly. Well, I haven't purchased a new model car kit at all this year. Trying to work my way through the stash. But this one will change that. I see a couple of these getting to my Porsche collection.
niteowl7710 Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 TamiyaUSA says late November. MSRP - $47. 5

dbostream Posted September 10, 2024 Posted September 10, 2024 Guess there will be no detailed engine in this one. I will get one anyway.
Bennyg Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Tamiya Japan link with extra pictures. Looks very good to me. https://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/24370/index.html?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1aLDXJqa3vv9QnN3sCBPn3jpKDo5M4p6YvNvyFQpVwmPSwQq8P8te84fI_aem_2gc5qu2bU9wvIqr8YNmr6Q Ben 2

mrm Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I am not a big fan of the pattern of the provided carbon fiber, but that could be easily resolved. I am definitely getting one.
Jim B Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Quite nice! Hopefully we'll see a race version eventually.
Alegitbot Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 I dont know about you guys, but these promo shots make it look much more like a inexpensive toy than usual. the carbon decals are pretty bad but atleast i can use it as a template, prob doesnt help that they painted the aero bits semi gloss black and not more satin

I'd like to see different versions too (Carrera/Turbo). If this was a Hasegawa kit there would likely be 3-4 versions but since it is Tamiya I doubt it. Still hoping they will release a road version of the Ford Mustang but not expecting them to.
Alegitbot Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Even though the carbon fiber decal is awful, it looks so good. 3
iamsuperdan Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 So looking forward to picking a couple of these up.
