Airfix Maserati Boomerang

Well here is one you don't see very often and has been sitting on my to-build pile for at least 10 years. The Airfix Maserati Boomerang. Very basic kit of a very cool-looking 80's Concept?? I don't believe that a real car was ever built, but my knowledge of Maserati is limited. Anyway, I was looking for something unique and a quick build so here she is. The kit goes together very well except for the door windows which have no real mounting spots so basically drop in figure is out and glue is the approach. The Paint Tropical Glitz Coral Reef is straight out of the can, with 2k Clear also straight from the can. The heat shield is the paper in the cigarette packs, most likely Marlboro, but maybe Camel.

That is one very cool Maserati Boomerang, I'm actually surprised that there is a kit of this concept car due to that only one was ever made. Well done Adam.

I didn’t know of the existence of the Maserati Boomerang . Very interesting looking car. The colour of your build looks nicer than the silver of the original car. ??

Definitely existed, even if only one was made and definitely NOT from the '80, but much earlier. It is one of series of cars from that era which started at the end of the sixties and put the start of the "wedge shape" designs that followed. I wish someone made all of these iconic cars in nice kits our days. Bertone's LANCIA STRATOS HF ZERO (1968), the Bizzarrini Manta from 1968, Alfa Romeo's Carabo from 1968, Pininfarina's 1969 Ferrari 512S Berlinetta Speciale and MODULO (1970), Giugiaro's Maseratti Boomerang, Holden Hurricane... These are the concepts that shaped the look of the sports car for decades.
