Dave B Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Went up to my mate Phil's for a social visit yesterday and came away with this. I did buy the file for this and a DB4GT Zagato a couple of months back but haven't worried about it as I'm still working on the C100. Something else to play with!! Dave B 2
Ace-Garageguy Posted September 11, 2024 Posted September 11, 2024 Gorgeous car. I have a very nice diecast, so I'm looking forward to seeing this built.
Dave B Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 Ok, I'm going to TRY and do a Pierre. Whoever drew the file hasn't got it quite right. The sides are too shallow and I think the injection is too far back towards the rear axle line so rightly or wrongly I've started my mods. Dave B
absmiami Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 If it will help - ive got the MFH kit - unbuilt - think it’s super accurate - if you want to see something fr the kit - ill post it next week … 1
Pierre Rivard Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Yeah, so boring when they come out of the box and the shape & dimensions are spot on. Aahhh... the smell of freshly cut resin, putty and epoxy, nothing beats it! 3
absmiami Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 here are two shots that i took at the Amelia concourse in 2015 the Ultimate Car Page site also has some good shots the fuel injection is exposed on the deck ... checking the MFH kit ... great looking beast 1
1959scudetto Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 I saw the original prototype (with 4 headlights) at the Niki Lauda Racing car show ca. 1983 in Vienna (must have a color print somewhere...) 1
bbowser Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Interesting that the glass extends into the roof, must get mighty warm in there! Looks a lot like a Ferrari 330.
Rich Chernosky Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 Dave...I have the Otaki 1/16 scale version of this car. Kit is fairly rare. Mine was painted a couple years back and awaiting polishing. (paint might actually be cured by now....<G>) Its a very interesting car and I believe only 3 were ever made. Your post will help me along greatly when I get back to this. Will follow. this will be an interesting project and I am sure you will turn it into a fine model.
1959scudetto Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 (edited) Rich, 18 chassis were built in 1967/68 - 1 prototype and about 12 "stradale", the remaining chassis were used for several dream cars like the Carabo, Coupé 33/2 Stradale, Cuneo, and Iguana among others. Here is the original prototype: Edited September 20, 2024 by 1959scudetto
Dave B Posted September 16, 2024 Author Posted September 16, 2024 Tks Andrew and everyone else. Rich, I have the Otaki kit but I must have built it like 40+ years ago and it shows!! Dave B PS I also have the Tipo 33 book but there is not a lot on the Stradale, heaps of the net.
Matt Bacon Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Really looking forward to this! And if anyone felt like 3D printing a set of accurate wheels in 1/16, I’d take them like a shot! best, M.
1959scudetto Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 (edited) Dave, not all the 33 stradales were red - one single car had been painted blue at the factory (shown in my 1992 book "Alfa Romeo street cars since 1950") - here are the pics - a street-legal race car: Could be possible that it has been restored in the meantime and repainted red like all the others... Here is my photo of the original 1967 prototype (shot in November 1983/ Niki Lauda racing car show, Vienna): Edited September 20, 2024 by 1959scudetto

Matt, check Jason's wheel sets (he has a set for the Alfa Romeo 2000 GTAm available, which looks very similar) : https://www.ebay.de/itm/185976415183?itmmeta=01J80QWZCHTDHKJRX3GQXN46BS&hash=item2b4d0ee3cf:g:JU8AAOSwexlkzOXS 1
Matt Bacon Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 @1959scudetto you are a star. I have ordered some, as long as I have managed to navigate German eBay successfully in translation... Thank you very much. All the best, Matt

All the best, Matt Matt, he is also on ebay.com, but I could not manage to place a link with exactly these wheels here..,.

Almost sorry I painted mine silver with black accents.
Dave B Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Tks for the encouragement guys. Helmut, love the blue one!! Dave B
Dave B Posted September 21, 2024 Author Posted September 21, 2024 Trial fit of the injection system, still need to make the injectors so it at least resembles the Spica injection. Dave B 1
Dave B Posted October 15, 2024 Author Posted October 15, 2024 Ok, have shot some white and it doesn't look too bad so after a fine sand it will be blue, tks Helmut. Hope to get the wheels and glass moulds tonight so I'll be able to progress further very soon, I hope. The interior won't be exact but it will have to do. The blue Stradale was a special order and included seats from a helicopter!! When sold it was painted red by its new Japanese owner and subsequently disappeared. Thankfully it's now blue again. 1959scudetto Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 (edited) That looks already very good, Dave. I especially like the visible part of the engine with the intake trumpets (and of course the blue color it will get) - I really don't know how you manage to crank out one exceptional model after the other - that's amazing. I have 2 die-casts from Italy - one will be repainted in this special blue (thanks for the information on that one - I did not know more about its history) Edited October 15, 2024 by 1959scudetto 1
Pierre Rivard Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 White primer makes it look like you have a good foundation. May only be a first paint layer but it always feels so good to reach that stage of a build. 1
Dave B Posted October 17, 2024 Author Posted October 17, 2024 I had basically finished the interior based on a standard Stradale but since I intend to base the build on the mythical blue Stradale it's incorrect. As Phil's printer broke down and I didn't get my wheels or glass moulds I'm going to cut up the interior so it at least reflects the Stradale I'm building. Dave B 1
