Steve H Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Assembly day!!! 😁 I believe I mentioned previously in this thread, that assembling the body to the interior/chassis was going to be the trickiest part of construction. Well…. there was some colourful language, but actually everything went fairly smoothly. It wasn’t totally straight forward, but not bad. So…. Added seat belts. First time doing a 4 point harness, and I think it’s passable. I don’t like belts being TOO tidy, so I aimed for a ‘worn” look. then a final quick mock of interior before gluing… Then…. Time to bring it all together!! Oh… a shot of the “radar detector” with wheels on, but not glued. Engine is close to complete. I will add fuel lines, the intake will HOPEFULLY be carbon fibre, I’ve put that off as long as possible. 🫣 Then I need to make intake pipe from the inter cooler to intake plenum. Still need to add the blow offs too. I used bootlace ferrules for turbo intakes, and exhaust tips. Headlight bezels are installed, still need lenses. Grill mesh is installed, and the rad is visible behind it! And the hood also has the screen installed. I’m getting close!! Still some under hood stuff to do, some clean up, and details, finish the engine, glue wheels on. Ya… it’s close-ish. As always, thanks for looking and all comments and feedback welcome. 8
Lowlife ! ! Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Wow Steve, apologies for not commenting before, I imagined this was a mad max style build that wouldn't particularly interest me ! But this blows my mind, I love it !! Obviously your a very talented builder, it's certainly the coolest Dodge Daytona I've ever seen ! I suspect a few of us watching are planning something similar, think you might be seeing a few more cyber punk rides in the near future ! Awesome build i look forward to seeing more !

Definitely no apologies necessary, glad you stopped in for a look. I appreciate the kind words. It’s starting to look like something, and I think it’s pretty cool. Interestingly, the only Daytona parts are: a portion of the body and hood, the dash, interior door cards, and the windshield… I would love to see more of these types of builds. I will eventually be doing at least 2 more, one based on a muscle car, and one of a truck. I have a radical twin turbo motor that is begging to be installed in one of these builds. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. 20 hours ago, Chuckyg1 said: Just beautiful. Im glad you’re enjoying this one John. Steve H Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 Most of the underhood detail is now done. Carbon fibre inner fenders, NOS bottle, rad with plumbing, fuel cell with fill tube. As you can see, there is room for a battery up front, just need to detail it. The NOS bottle will be visible through the screen in the hood😎 I had my faithful pal Otis at my side tonight as an emotional support dog while I started to tackle the carbon fibre decals on the intake🫣😱. His calm energy is very helpful… He will be 14 next month. Im hoping to have this wrapped up in a week or so. Got LOTS of ideas for my next builds, gotta get going!! 4
BK9300 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) The underhood detailing looks great, Steve! Never worked with carbon fibre decals before - seems like they would be quite flexible. Did you make the inner fender clamps for your rad hoses? Great support you have there beside you, too. Edited January 8 by BK9300
NOBLNG Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Steve, your attention to detail is amazing and your fit and finish talents are second to none.😎

Otis says thanks for looking out for him. 🐶 He has a few health issues now due to his age, but come meal time he still acts like a puppy. Thanks for taking the time to comment guys! More soon… 1
Steve H Posted January 10 Author Posted January 10 Hi all, getting really close now. Still on track to finish this weekend. Underhood done, wheels mounted, wing attached. I have a list of about 10 smallish items left to do. The carbon fibre decals on the intake are not great, but I’m happy enough to call it good. Just don’t look too close😉 Next update should be the last!! 8

Sorry, I missed you in my last reply, my apologies. The CF decals… I watched quite a few video tutorials, and I feel like I have reasonable skills, but man, they fight me hard. They are sort of flexible’ but I do not have the talent, or patience to pull off what others do. The heat gun is quite helpful though, as well as setting solution. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the people that achieve the smooth finish on complex shapes. The rad hose clamps are some photo etch fret. I recently started keeping all the fret for uses like this. Fairly pliable, but also rigid. Otis is awesome, he loves hobby time. He hunkers down and snuggles in. Thanks for having a look Brian 1 1
Chuckyg1 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 The first Pic from above, seeing the whole car and what you've achieved to this point, really makes me more appreciative of what you doing. Love how this is coming together. Great vision and mad skills yo.
John B. Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Your project is insane! Wonderfully creative and refreshing!

I had a vision, and it’s coming together dry close to what I had in mind. I learned a bit from this one that I will use to improve the next version I do. I think I’ll do a muscle car next… Several builds in the que before that though. 6 hours ago, John B. said: Your project is insane! Wonderfully creative and refreshing! Hey… two Johns! Thanks John, as mentioned in the first post, I got my inspiration from some internet images, and from Martin Aveyard’s incredible build. It has been a fun build for sure. Thanks for the comment.
Steve H Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Got this one finished up this morning. I should have it under glass by tomorrow. Thanks to all that followed along, and took the time to comment. It has been a fun build. I will be venturing over to the truck section for my next build. Finally getting around to a tribute build for Roger Hayes (Plowboy). 6
Lowlife ! ! Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Just love it Steve, paint , interior, in fact the whole thing, such an awesome project ! Got me thinking about building one now, I'm trying to concentrate on my Corvette build and I keep itching to get started on one of these cyber punk race car thingy's !! Think you did a great job with the carbon fibre decals too, I mean you even managed to do the door handles !!! Got this build bookmarked, I'll be coming back to it soon !
