Hodrodz Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 First post in W.I.P. This is my current project, 71 Ford Ranger. Shortened frame and modified, front and rear C-notch. Shortened the bed and raised the bed floor. Opened the doors and made the doorjams. Created suicide door hinges and incased them in the jams. Powerplant is an Iceman Collections supercharged coyote engine and wheels were purchased from Foggy Cypress on Etsy. Thanks for looking. Will post more progress pics as it progresses. 10
Zippi Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Looking pretty good there James. Great looking stance. 1
STU111 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 This is going to look cool. I’m going to keep an eye on this. ?? 1
espo Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Major body and chassis work. Like the Ford in a Ford setup. 1
Hodrodz Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 Figuring out the inner door and door panel. The kit body lines for the interior tub do not match the door after cutting apart and test fitting. Door panels will be installed after doors or glued in place and painted. 4
Hodrodz Posted October 3, 2024 Author Posted October 3, 2024 Testing fitting the doors on the body and testing the seat proved to be an issue. The seat is to wide and hitting the doors. I cut the seat in half and took out 1/8 of an inch. Glued the seat back together and test fit again. I now have plenty of room between the doors and seat. I could have put buckets in but really want to keep the interior as stock as possible. 7
dino246gt Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Wow, fantastic project, looking so great already, I love it! 1
Steve H Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Great looking build so far James. Love the stance, and fantastic work on the doors and interior. I’ll be following… 1
Hodrodz Posted October 26, 2024 Author Posted October 26, 2024 Was able to finally do a bit more to the Ranger. Managed to finish up the door jambs on the cab and completed some bodywork on the firewall and doors. 5
Hodrodz Posted November 21, 2024 Author Posted November 21, 2024 Finally had some free time and was able to work on an issue that came up on the Ranger. After building the cab and hinges I ran into an issue with how to get the dash installed into the cab. To solve the problem I used a technique I learned from a video by Doug Whyte, neodymium magnets. Using styrene strips i made a base and a mount and installed magnets into both. I glued the mount to the bottom of the dash and attached the base, then glued the base to the cab firewall. After it set i was able to remove the dash and the base remained in the cab. Now I can install the dash without issue. 2
OldNYJim Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 You’re doing really nice work on this - the mods on the frame and particularly the doors…keep going! 1
Steve H Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 Great build James, lots of nice mods. I like the magnet/dash idea, I might use that on my current build.🤔 1
