Hello there. Is there a model kit of Ferris Bueller's Day Off Ferrari? I think it's a 250 GTO convertible if I'm not mistaking, probably a fake one at that. I remembered the liscnce plate read NERVOUS, maybe fewer letters. What EXACTLY was the Ferrari in the movie and what's the best model kit of it? I've always loved that movie and hope Itunes get's its in their library soon and I'd love to have a model of it.

It is a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California.

I believe the closest you can get is the kit by Testors. Not sure what other manufacture may have done it, as the kits Testors did back in the 80's usually came from other companies.

its not a 250 "gto" spyder! its a 250 gt california spyder swb! but the movie car is NOT a real Ferrari 250 California, it is a kitcar with a chevrolet engine! There actually was a real 250 GT used in shooting. They brought one into the studio for 1 day of shooting. Every extreme close up you see of the car (i.e. The emblem, wheels and so forth) is from a real 250 GT

Italeri made the 250 GT California Spyder, Testors reboxed it. Three releases, Italeri box, Testors box, and Revell AG box.

Thank's guys! I'll have a look for the Testors kit some day. I always had the hot's for Mia Sara.

I bet the car they crashed in the end was a kit car for sure!

It's interesting how in movies, and in tv shows such as Miami Vice, that you can see the real deal exotic car in some shots, and in other shots it's an obvious fake.

There are questionable scenes in several movies where you wouldn't do that to a real car. I can pick two movies for example.

Cannonball Run II, the begining chase scene between the Lamborghini Countach and the police. You wouldn't treat a Lamborghini like that diving off a dirt hill and spinning off onto the road.

In Condorman, you wouldn't drive a Porsche 935 down grassy hills leaping over the roads and down another grassy hill.

Anyway, is this an easy model to find, or is it a rare one? I like movie cars!

Watch the shows like Wild police chases and such to see see things you "wouldn't do" to a car like that. Some people will do anything to a car. One of those shows had a clip showin a guy in a brand new Mustang that he'd bought not stolen just slammin the cops around with the car Intentionally. Now would you do that to a brand new Stang, or any car you just bought?? lol

That's a Mustang owner. I seriously doubt any Ferrari owner would do sucha thing! LOL! A mustang to me is an every day car no matter how new it is.

Theres a police chase video on t.v. every now and then of a mint(looking) c4 corvette, I beleive everyones seen it, where the guy slams into the back of a semi and the 'vette gets damolished

I would never do that to my c4, I dont even speed in it! Ive only had it up to 80 mph.

On that kit car of the gto, they might of used a early z car for it, its a pretty popular mod that some z guys do.

I die a little inside every time i see that video of that c4, because it looks just like mine

scan0003.jpg

Ive seen pictures of that diablo before, i still wonder if they fell from the sky

I think i may have been to that site before im not sure though.

The guy did deserve what he got for stealing the 'vette, i just wish the 'vette survived :o

They say he was doing at least 160, there isnt a single doubt in my mind he was going that fast, tlhe throttle response on these cars are amazing! so is the excelleration! B) I havent had mine over 90 before and i got there from 40 in less than 5 seconds, the only bad thing is the front tends to walk when you hit 60 :P

Speaking of that Porsche, a few years ago we were attending a car show held here at the Broadmore in Colorado Springs. After the show was over, the owner of a brand new yellow Porsche Carrera GT was showing off for his date and totally wrecked the car exiting out of the driveway. Needless to say the "girlfriend" was NOT impressed! Car was totalled, but everybody came out well. Upset, but well.

At any rate, I'd like to add one of these cars to my collection. I have a nice large DVD movie collection, around 60 or so, and I try and collect models/figures relating to the movies and/or tv shows. So, that's why I was asking about the Ferrari, even though I dont' yet have a DVD of Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Yep us Mustang owners don't care about our cars. I just used that as an example if the car exists somebody has done something stupid with it Wrecked Exotics prove that. I bet very few of the cars on there are stolen. remember the guy who wrapped the ferrari around the pole not long ago Think it was an Enzo but don't remember He wasn't just having him an innocent suday drive he was acting stupid in it. You look through that Wrecked site and you'll see a lot of stupidity done in cars that "Wouldn't be treated like that "

Just in case this wasn't mentioned, you can always go to www.imcdb.org (internet movie cars database) and type in a movie and they will tell you the car and have some great pictures along with it. It is VERY extensive. Give it a try - it's kinda cool.

That car in the movie wasnt a kit car. IT was a hand built body. The way i know this is i know the guy who did the exhaust on it and he told us the company who made the body. :)

hey sdrooder,

yes the body was hand built, there where several body companies that made that body style for many years!

but the movie car that they drove around in all of the driving shots actualy is a kit. its a rebodied MG w/ a chevy motor!

LETS PUT IT THIS WAY, THEY DIDN"T DRIVE A REAL FERRARI IN THE MOVIE!

sorry for being rude or anything, i am not trying to be! :)

but this useless info i have floating around in my head! :D

That I'd bet anything was for sure a kit car. Nobody in their right mind would purposly destroy a rare classic. Rest of the movie, I'm not sure about!

hey nobody in their right mind would drive a $2,000,000 car in the city streets either! atleast i wouldn't! i would sit there and "rub it down with a diaper"! :)

if i had a car like that i would flip out if it "got scratched, breathed on wrong or piegon would sh** on it!" :D

you aint rude. Its all cool just saying. The guy who did the exhaust on the car said if you watch the end of the movie there is a special thanks to the company who made the body. But i also get that maybe the end car was an mg as i dont think they would drive a handmade body out the window.

The exhaust guy told us he had to do the exhaust like 3 times because they jumped it(when the parking house guys drove it)

cool thanks, and i am guessing that the rebodied mg had a handmade body! other wise it would look like a mg! right?

but yeah, that sucks he had to do the exhaust 3 times! and i would have driven it like the parking guys did(if it was a kit car!). WHAT A CAR!

Hmmm.......my eyes tell me that the Ferris Bueller Ferrari is actually supposed to represent a LWB spyder, not a SWB one. Lotsa real estate behind the trailing edge of the doors.................

The short wheelbase ones look a little tidier IMO-------I believe that's the car that the Italeri kit represents as I have one. B)

The nose is a bit different on the LWB ones also as the SWB's are a bit "stouter".
