bobss396 Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I'm on my phone do I don't have a link. The show flyer is available on the LIARS main site and their FB page. I'm not sure if the Vendor tables are sold out. They were going fast. I'm a Vendor again this year. Try to make it, the venue is the same at the Freeport Rec Center, right off the Meadowbrook Parkway. I'm not sure if the food court is open.
bobss396 Posted November 4, 2024 Author Posted November 4, 2024 Thanks for posting the flyer. We will be there Friday at 6 PM to do the set up.

I have a table that will be about 1/2 way down against the left side wall. I'm the old bald guy with a couple of tattoos, can't miss me. We likely do know each other. I'll give you the double secret LIARS discount. 1
bobss396 Posted November 10, 2024 Author Posted November 10, 2024 The show went off pretty well. I have to see what the numbers are, compared to 2023 which was almost break-even. The hall rental is $2000 for the day, no wiggle room. The trophy ? package is $1400. So we are in the discussion phase of considering a new venue. The Friday night set up pictures show how big the place is. I even took hone some of the loot. 1

Congrats.Yea that would be great if the show was to move, specifically closer to my house.Lol.Anyway,again i do believe I used your wife’s phone to find my phone.I guess you were set up close to the front door on the left as you come in.Wish I knew it was you.I definitely purchased a couple of kits from you.?

We will discuss other venues at our next meeting. We do have to cater to those who come from out of state, so it has to be easy to find. I joined the club in 1998, the first 2 shows we had were on Vets Highway in a fancy hotel. We shared that with another club that has since folded. Then we used a catering hall in Hicksville that was extremely poorly illuminated for 2 shows. By 2002 we moved to Freeport. I see other shows shrinking. MASSCAR used to have a great show. That club folded. There were a couple of Staten Island shows that went POOF. One was at a college along with a 1:1 car show, another was sponsored by a hobby shop, Brownies Hobbies, held at a church. I'm not sure if the Rhinebeck show is still going on. I was set up on the left side 3/4 of the wat down, next to the guy selling tools.

Yup,I’m pretty sure i bought a kit or two from you.I remember the shows at the hotel on Vets and the LIE.I I believe it was The Raddisson hotel.Nice show, very actually remember that SAE attended or sponsored the show,I’m not sure. They were taking pictures at the show. This goes back to 96.Wow that was so long ago.Like I said,SAE was taking photos for their magazine.I had an unmarked police car that was chosen by them to be photographed and featured in their magazine.I have the issue somewhere.I never thought i would make it into their magazine. There were a bunch of cars that madeo it into their issue. They would go around and leave cards at your model. If they left a card, they would photograph the model, and possibly be in their up coming magazine.I also remember the catering hall in Hicksville.I also thought the lighting was horrible.I have attended a few LIARS meetings. Its a good club.Anyway, the show was pretty good.Always crowded. And your right there are a few vendors that come from out of state. In fact,I think one guy came from Maine.I know NJ has a few shows, including the NNL East, which from I know,is a huge show.I think there were a couple of guys from Maine,I always look forward to the show,i got one plaque a few years back for another police car.I got to find that 96 SAE magazine article.
bobss396 Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 You should come to a meeting, next Thursday at 7, same location. The Radisson was a great place, very posh. That was my 1st show in 1998. I had a 1965 Ford stock car that was shot by Scale Auto and went into the contest cars edition. In 1999 I had a 1958 Chevy custom that won best-in-show. They had to come and get me out of the bar. I still have the trophy in my den, my son at the time was 7 and I had him carry it from the car, it was almost as tall as him. Venues with bars are great. Masscar had a bar at their last show I went to in 2011. I won 8 awards, my brother 5. My little Altima was stuffed to the gills for the ride home. We have lost a lot of good vendors in recent years. One guy Ron came from PA. All new kits and accessories.

I heard Ron retired back in early 2020 and because his inheritors chose not to continue the business, they supposedly sold the remaining inventory off somewhere (prolly eBay no doubt).

Yes, that was him. Someone else said he had retired.
