Ken Car-Fanatic Posted October 20, 2024 Posted October 20, 2024 3 years ago I bought this 1992 Geo Storm promo kit for $2 as a test kit to get back into model building & get re-acquainted with air brushing. I figured to use it as a test kit to get myself back into building & quickly realized how much work it was just to do something simple like this. Decently happy with the result, but just did it as a quick (if 3 weeks is quick?) build. Didn't do too much, mainly just painting & some detail paint-work. Here's some after & then before pictures. 7
Leica007 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Looks really good, you sure didn't lose much of your airbrushing skill, paint look excellent.
RACINE ISHRAQUR RAZA Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Looks awesome! I have three of these Geo Storm promos(green, yellow, & black) and been thinking about doing something to them for the future. Your car is inspiring!
XYHARRY Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Nice transition on this promo, paint looks great. Well done Ken. Cheers, David. ??
ncbuckeye67 Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Pretty sweet! My neighbor (hot young girl!) had a yellow one. I worked on it a couple of times.
DJMar Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 I am one of those weird Geo Storm aficionados, and I dig this! ????
Jim B Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 Cool Geo. Well done. We had a couple of Geo Prisms back in the 1990s. Nice cars.
Tom Geiger Posted October 22, 2024 Posted October 22, 2024 (edited) Neat! The tough part is getting it apart! That promo is plastic welded together! I had a time getting it apart without ruining any parts! I had one of these, purchased for my older daughter as her first car. Two years later her grandfather gave her a low mile Corolla, so I kept the Storm limber by driving it to work. Then my younger daughter got it as her first car. Once she was done, I got it back and drove it occasionally. Finally got rid of it when we moved to another state. Funny thing is that it was the best car ever! Got it witty 120,000 miles on it and drove it up to 180,000 before selling it. It never broke down! Just regular maintenance. Still sad I let it go! Edited October 22, 2024 by Tom Geiger 1
Ken Car-Fanatic Posted October 22, 2024 Author Posted October 22, 2024 Thanks to all. It's nice to get back to building again. I have a bunch of other coupes to build that this kinda fits with & felt these cars where often under appreciated & I felt the Geo Storm looked better than the 2nd gen Isuzu Impulse (which was this cars other half).
blubaja Posted October 26, 2024 Posted October 26, 2024 Is that the kit glass still? All of mine are super dark smoked.
