When morons post on YouTube

Yes, the voiceover is probably AI, but somebody had to write the script, not to mention listen to the final product before submitting it.

I really wanted to congratulate this idiot on producing such a fine, well-researched video and follow up by asking whether they'd consider doing another one comparing this "small but powerful Boss "249" with Chevrolet's Z2.8.

Okay, but beyond the ridiculous AI intro is the fact that the whole vid is fictitious. They show a car with modern updates and try to pass it off as some kind of secret supercar made in the late sixties.
It also switches cars at some point. Note early in the vid, after the scene of it coming out the the trailer where it first introduces the erroneous name, and in the pic with the flowers, they show a car with stock Boss wheels, chrome driving light rings, and a chrome bumper. They then switch back  to the customized version. Its a joke.

The object of AI is to try to turn everyone into idiots and I bet there are now people parroting the cool BOSS 249 they saw on YT.

Between Googlie's little idiot AI that scrambles info and doesn't understand context, and dreck like this on YT, the flood of instant internet experts mindlessly rebleating what they've heard from "authoritative sources" is sure to accelerate.

EDIT: Is it coincidence that these two massive sources of false or scrambled "information" are both arms of Alphabet Inc.?

If you watch much history, or aviation, or military technology, or much of anything on YT made these days, the number of garbage vids made either by entirely clueless AI or equally clueless humans is pretty depressing.

A lot of the stuff is useless clickbait, with scrambled timelines, mis-pronounced words (sometimes several different pronunciations of ONE word within a single vid), photos from entirely different time periods or of airplanes/tanks/trucks/trains/engines/nuclear reactors/whatever that are not even mentioned in the audio track.

The downside of the internet is that it's given a global voice to every fool with a computer and a web connection, and it's becoming painfully obvious that for the most part, AI is doing a great job emulating stupid humans.

EDIT: And the fact that Google is becoming increasingly unreliable as a source of accurate information makes it increasingly difficult for YT viewers of trash video presentations to independently check their validity.

For a long time, Google has had a propensity to vomit up results that were inaccurate, and in order to glean the actual truth on any subject, a searcher had to have a fair amount of baseline knowledge on the subject being searched going in.

With AI Overview often spewing garbled gibberish at the very TOP OF THE RESULTS page, lazy searchers are only going to get worse about accepting lies, whether intentional or not, as truth.

EDIT 2: The state of today's mainstream-accessible AI is proof-positive of the old GIGO maxim: garbage in, garbage out.

There's no doubt in my mind that AI WILL get much smarter over time, but for now, it's still not ready for the bigtime.

If I hear the AI voice on an internet video, I block the account. Anyone who can’t be bothered to get a human to narrate their video is a lazy waste of oxygen. I also block accounts with posts showing one car or plane or whatever, but talking about another. They do that intentionally, to get views and replies. Also a waste of oxygen. Facebook and Instagram are quickly becoming a waste of time. Too much fake baloney. Ugh…the videos with someone finding a newborn kangaroo and raising it. Yeah, the size of a pinto bean and raising that. Video of 5 different kangaroos. Waste of oxygen.

Whoever wrote the script for this has a very limited automotive knowledge and may not even own a vehicle and uses Uber to get around.

But doncha understand...this is the kind of dweeble who doesn't believe that objective truth or actual knowledge has any value, and besides...he's generating clicks and income by spewing this gibberish, and probably laughing at everyone who criticises it.

See man...he doesn't HAVE to actually know anything or how to DO anything, including drive, other than move his little cursor around a screen.

In his mind, the quality of what comes out is of no consequence, and people like you are just jealous old fossils who're so stuck in the past-it concept of "physical reality" and "accurate information", you really need to just go away.

AND...it's entirely unnecessary for a human to have written the script anyway, what with the current level of consumer-oriented AI video production products.

So all Mr. Dweeble has to do is type in a few keywords, or a subject phrase, and the AI will do the rest. It'll even produce an audio track in a pretty decent simulation of his voice

He CAN edit it, but you know, why bother? Trash still generates clicks.

Not me. I'm not big on video anyway unless it needs to be seen and heard. There are many news or sports stories I want to "read" but it is only a video so I skip it.

Besides, I get more of a kick reading the comments here and probably more knowledge about the subject from you guys than wasting my time with the video.

Same here. I skip videos about people’s models. Just post some pics and a description.

lets use a employed mechanic as an example. if you go to them and they open youtube on their phone instead of a workshop manual then you know to go elsewhere. youtube is entertainment, not a reference library

But...but...but what about    YouTube Certified Master Auto Technician Decal / Sticker 10      ?

Anybody who doesn't get all his automotive expertise from watching a buncha morons do everything wrong on the web and take their word as gospel is just a loser dinosaur stuck in the printed-page past.

I tend to use YouTube for entertainment purposes only, but I have found some useful content such as the reset procedure for my hot tub remote (that I couldn't find in the paper manual), and something related to my Jeep that I can't remember..

There is indeed loads of GOOD info on YT, but to be able to winnow the wheat from the BS, a viewer needs to actually know a fair bit about the subject first...as is the case with ANY internet-sourced information.

Unfortunately, too many people somehow believe that everything on the web is true and correct and swallow whole whatever some ignorant random rebleater posts, so we get a flood of instant "experts" who don't really have a clue.

But they'll argue incessantly with people who do actually know. It's pretty funny, really.  B)
