Phildaupho Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 I really like what you are doing. Looking forward to more. 1
NOBLNG Posted December 12, 2024 Author Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) Well I had a bit of a conundrum about how to mount the radiator and grill. Moving the axle out in front of the frame rails creates a problem for both the grill and the steering system.🤯 At first I had the grill shaved and tucked in between the frame and axle. That left no space for the tie rod. The solution that I finally decided on was to move the grill out in front of the axle. Very limited suspension travel now, so I will have to avoid speed bumps.😬 I sectioned the kit radiator and mounted it backwards in the grill shell. Then I used thin CA to glue some fine mesh to a piece of.010” styrene sheet for the front of the radiator. The new setup leaves lots of room for the tie rod and whatever fan setup I decide on. Thanks for your Patience everyone.🥴 Edited December 12, 2024 by NOBLNG 9
NOBLNG Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 And I managed to keep the full height of the grill and it doesn’t sit too high in relation to the body in my eye.🤓 8
Jim Dodson Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Really digging the level of detail on the exhaust manifold. Cool looking Rod! 1
rattle can man Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 How about using a "suicide" spring perch and nothing the center of the grille around the mount? 1
rattle can man Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 I hate spell check. That should be notching the grille shell. 1

I think I’d have the same issues mounting the grill and radiator. I don’t like the raised spring mount though…I think it looks a bit scary.😬
dino246gt Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Man that's some fantastic work on this one! Love all the mods, so much like building a real one. It's a show stopper, I love it! Thanks for sharing all the progress with explanations, VERY informative!! 1
customline Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 As long as the welding was performed by a competent tradesman, the "suicide" spring mount wouldn't be dangerous, in and of itself. It's the unprotected stuff sticking out everywhere that's the problem. 😁 2
LennyB Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Looking good Greg and I like how you kept the full grill. But as you said, have to watch out for those speed bumps. 1
slusher Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Like how your build looking Greg, going too be a fantastic build! 1

David G. Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 I just found this one and I'm all caught up with it. Wow Greg! 😮 Awesome work with the chop and custom top! And the chassis is coming together quite nicely too. David G. 1
Steve H Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Coming along very nicely Greg. I REALLY like that motor, looks so cool. 1
TheBEAUMONTGURU Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 Looking good Greg. so many modifications. The engine choice is going to make this one really stand out! 1
NOBLNG Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 Thanks for your interest, encouragement and patience everyone!🙂 I am kinda making this up as I go along…trying to fix issues as they arise.🥴 I’ve never really been good at making a plan and sticking to it. I have a general idea of where I want to go but usually wind up changing tack a number of times due to unforeseen issues or just whims.🤪
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 Looking good. Inline sixes in rods create a whole big bag of additional problems. 1

Yup - suicide front end - best left for T bucket IMO I had missed this - you a doing a fine job Greg. I like the strakes on the roof and the front end treatment. Lots of engineering going down . And the GMC engine - just a bit different to the belly button SBC and flat motors and looking kool too 1
Zippi Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 What a transformation Greg. This is really taking shape. Totally different looking ride dude. 1
Speedpro Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Really looking good Greg! Everything is coming together nicely! 1
NOBLNG Posted December 26, 2024 Author Posted December 26, 2024 (edited) I finally figured out how to get some sort of interior into this wedge shaped body. I made a tracing of the frame rails on the floor pan then scribed the floorpan partially through dead center of the frame. Then I glued the floor pan to the body, cut the center portion free and glued it to the frame. Now I can get a minimal interior installed in separate sections…one attached to the body and one attached to the floorpan. It may be a little unorthodox, but I have no idea how else to deal with it.🤯 Edited December 26, 2024 by NOBLNG 6
LennyB Posted December 26, 2024 Posted December 26, 2024 Where there is a will, there is a way, good job👍
David G. Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 That's a mighty fine bit of engineering! David G.
