Chuck Kourouklis Posted February 11 Posted February 11 '64's a first-gen, right? I'd be down for that... 1
Reegs Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) So let's get cracking on a 3D printed small block LA Mopar. We'll have to wait on whatever else is absent from the engine compartment. Edited February 11 by Reegs

Great service and product and an alternative to buying kits just for the engine plus you get to choose the transmission! 2

I have quite a few of the engine kits (Ford, Chrysler, Chevy) , a few transmissions, and a couple of differentials. 1

I know of the 60 4-door, the 61 2-door, and a 63 Convertible. I know some of these got issued as different years, but I don't think they actually made the changes (pretty minor really, mostly on the frunk). Erik

Erik I think the ‘64 was a 2dr, a Craftsman or Jr Craftsman. Not sure what they did in ‘61. 1
Motor City Posted February 13 Posted February 13 I think this is what was made: promos: '60 & '61 four-door, '62 coupe, '63 coupe & convertible, '64 coupe & convertible kits: '60 four-door, '61 coupe, '62 coupe, '63 coupe & convertible, '64 coupe & convertible 2
ChrisBcritter Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The '61 kit is kind of an oddball - it has a separate roof and separate chrome B-pillars which don't look or fit right, plus the rear wheel openings were carried over from the four-door sedan. It really looks like it was supposed to be a convertible but Chevrolet didn't build a Corvair vert until '62. I ended up building mine as a phantom droptop using a boot from the IMC '48 Ford (it fits perfect). 1

Erik I have the following first generation Corvairs in my model collection to be restored: 1960 Corvair 700 Sedan- Kit Based 1961 Corvair 700 Sedan-Promo Based 1962 Corvair Monza Coupe- Kit Based (2) 1963 Corvair Monza Convertible-Kit Based 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder Coupe-Kit Based (2) I built one of my 62s in Aqua with the white interior. I put custom wheels on it. The other 62 I have had the custom front and rear treatment and painted Testors Copper. I was able to strip the paint and cleanly remove the custom parts. I was able to get a partial kit and box that had everything else needed to build a car. A friend of mine was into Corvairs when I was a kid. He had a Maroon one with a white interior. The 1960 and 63 have been bodyworked and primed, and are ready for paint, once i decide on the color. The 1961 Sedan is a very nice light Green Promo with no warp or issues. The 1964s are clean unpainted Kit Based models. One has had some painting on the interior by the previous owner, otherwise left alone. One is going to be yellow, with the black interior. One of the teachers at my elementary school had one. I may replicate her car. I haven't decided on the fate of the other 64 yet. I haven't started on my second generation Corvairs. That's for another post. 1
Mark C. Posted February 14 Posted February 14 I’d love to see an early Corvair reissue, but I’m a little strange in that I would prefer it to be a 4 door… 1

etmccaus Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I am really excited for that Barracuda kit, and probably more so than I have been for a model kit in quite some time. Does anyone have a rough ETA for it? Starting to piece together some parts already for a couple build configurations I'm dreaming of... 1
oldcarfan Posted March 5 Posted March 5 As far as I'm concerned, Round 2 could start reproducing every model in this ad! 5

I've been hoping for a new kit of any 1961 Buick (Special, LeSabre, Invicta or Electra) for decades now. But I'd be thrilled with repops of the ones listed in that flyer - wagon, hardtop or convertible. Or all three.

Looking at all of these, the ones that would probably give the best return on investment (IMO) would be the Ford Starliner, the Pontiac Bonneville hardtop, and the '60 El Camino. Honorable mention to the Buick Invicta hardtop and the Falcon. 1

The '64 coupe was also offered as a slot car body kit (molded in white; the snap kit was yellow). 1
