The whole build is striking, it was and still is a great idea from conception to execution, it is turning out to be a fabulous build of a cool old truck anyone would be proud to wheel down the highway.

Tired today after two doctor appointments, but came upstairs for awhile this afternoon. Going off the rails again on this build. The dash is in two pieces on this kit, so I am going to make a slightly larger flat dash and add PE dash gages, kinda custom look I hope. Second: you guys have seen those really tall shifters those custom trucks have? I think this truck needs one 😉😜

That truck is coming together nicely. At first, I was thinking the proportions looked off, but now I'm glad I stayed tuned to this "bat channel" as they used to say.

You did fabulous work so far for sure!

That Photo-etched gauges will definitely help adding the interior details too.

Experimenting with some aluminum tubing and using a brake line tool to bend them. Would like to have polished aluminum pipes (bit larger diameter to make a statement of what’s under the hood) on this truck. Custom dash built and painted, working on PE dash parts.

Dash board is looking awesome, Gary!   Will you leave the exhaust tips level or angled back?  What will you use for polishing the stacks?

Brian, I use a product called Simichrome, have used this tube for 30 years as a toolmaker to polish aluminum. The aluminum exhaust stacks will be taller and have a 45 degree bevel, I think🥴, they will also be polished. The tubing is 1/4 inch which will give me about a 6 1/4 diameter in scale inches. IMG_2403.jpeg.e6ff6c2a59e05d7ad75fd5d80ac26dc7.jpeg

Ran into this tip on another model site. Guys are using this narrow tape for radiator clamps and also intricate stripping on their builds so I ordered some to experiment with.

Breaking more rules. Tried making a visor a couple different ones, not anything I liked. Could not find any aftermarket visor that fits either. The goal with this truck is an updated old truck so sticking to the theme, I found this visor. Glueing visors on always gives me stress so I tried a bit different way. Drilled .040 holes in the visor ends, then aligned on the cab and drilled. This allows me to glue pins in place and it is already aligned. This visor also allows me to use later model cab lights and keep the roof clean. IMG_2405.jpeg.d6db058f8fe95e3b87d78a63aee57a56.jpeg
now some finish work and off to paint.

Great work on the visor and the dash. This is going to look great.

I feel for you on the doctor appointments, mine are nonstop, I've can't remember why I'm going half the time!

Thanks and yes the appointments are wearing me out, and still not many answers.

Some detailing today. Decals will be minimal and need to tell the story of a small private company truck, as this truck would not belong to a large corporation. Visor painted, will assemble it tomorrow. Giving thought to building a three axle lowboy trailer (got one of those kits) with hump fenders to match, with over size load of something.  Squirrel 🐿️🐿️🐿️

Really liking this build. You are tempting me to build a custom truck.

Doooooo it, it’s actually been fun just building without instructions

Thanks for the info on the nail art item.  I can already see several applications that can improve our hobby!

The dash is looking good and fits well too.  Good looking truck with smooth paint job.  I think you are almost ready to deliver this truck from its factory!

Thanks Landon, starting to see the finish line on the truck.

Absolutely! I'm glad to see you working on it. If it's anything like when I'm building it's a therapy session haha!
