That’s a lot of work accomplished in all those small details!

As you know very well, time consuming and bench time this time of the year is a challenge.

Nice grill! Are you planning on foil casting the autocar emblem to transfer it over ?

Not sure Jeff, this build is very freelance and no rules, so not sure what I may do.

Making progress but really not photo worthy. Making all the brackets to mount fenders, the air suspension and fuel tanks are creating impedances. Got the wheels stripped and refinished, grill is stripped and ready for many modifications. Finish fenders and front brakes and chassis is ready for paint. Got to find room for air tanks yet.

I tend to mimic the local trucks I see here, the logging trucks use a super single on lift axle and duals on drivers. Although I just seen a new logging truck and trailer with super singles all the way around.

Thats all great …….. until you get a flat …… at lest with duals you can still ‘limp’ the truck to a shop , loaded or not … duals for this fat boy …. Please. 😋

Progress today. More work on the grill, frame ready for paint and bunch of other parts ready for primer. Oh yes, the fenders are ready for primer/paint. Get the heat turned up in the garage and sniff paint tomorrow. IMG_2286.thumb.jpeg.534bbd09693ed6f26492216081e9e976.jpeg

Warning for the purists; I am reshaping the front fenders to get rid of the coffee table in front of the fenders, and building a custom bumper. Also getting rid of the bugeye headlights.

I have to agree with you Jeff beautiful isn’t. By Gary doing this reminds me when my dad was helped me restore my “Real” 1.1 Autocar grille he cut and fitted the mesh just like Gary did. Thanks Gary for the memory.

Gary on my Real 1.1 Autocar the tanks were hanging down on the inside of the frame just behind the cab if this helps. I can get you a pic if you need one.

Love to see that picture, and yes thar was were I was going to mount them. The air suspension leaves no room for air tanks. Pic would be helpful.

Drove one truck in my life with them their not fun on switchback curvy roads they are terrible for the roads here in the foothills of the Ozarks very mushy feeling when you put into a hard curve. I don’t like them.

Some days I do I had the truck for 19 years dad passed away after going to one show after it was completed with us in Paducah Ky. and it was never the same after that even though Bill and I still showed our trucks many years after dad’s passing there was always a empty feeling. I sold the truck because of my physical health was not doing well and I wasn’t going to be like these guys who are in the late 70s saying “I’m going to fix it up some day” I sold it so some one else could enjoy the truck as much as I did.
