Bugatti Fan
Bill mentioned earlier about drivers cutting in too close when overtaking. I was doing some motorway driving recently and got cut up a few times. But the ironic thing is that they had plenty of road space in front of my vehicle to pull back over safely? The other thing is, have many drivers forgotten that they have turn indicators on their cars? I can read the road reasonably well but clairvoyancy is not one of my driving skills !

Amen to that! And particularly, they seem to have forgotten how you’re supposed to use them at roundabouts: I’ve learned from a few close calls that you can’t make any assumptions about what people are going to do at a roundabout from their use of indicators, or lack of it! best, M.

Roundabouts are becoming popular over here with "traffic engineers", and lotsa drivers seem to have no clue how to negotiate one.
Rob Hall
Got a bunch of roundabouts/traffic circles here in NE Ohio...when I lived in AZ I remember seeing a lot of them up in Sedona..like 1/2 dozen of them in a few miles on one road... Bugatti Fan
Roundabouts.  They are quite common place over here in the UK. Have been for years. After all this time you would have thought that drivers were used to using them properly by now. LOL.

Sounds like you share the same traffic engineers as upstate NY. Here's a screen shot of 5 within 3/4 or so of a mile.

Most seem to be driving larger lifted 4x4 pickups or some sort of large SUVs.
peteski
Seems that more and more drivers are either purposefully ignoring traffic rules or are just oblivious to them (or both).

Study after study indicate that humans are not particularly good at "multitasking", contrary to popular opinion, so the intrusion of smartphones into the driving environment is likely the primary cause. Almost without fail, when I see somebody driving erratically or missing turn arrows or failing to yield etc., a look at the driver reveals his/her attention is focused down at something in the car and not what's going on around it. Yeah, I routinely see two or more cars in the intersection and then doing a left turn after the light turns red.😡
espo
With the lack of driving ability with the drivers around here, the only thing worse than a roundabout might be the diverging diamonds at freeway interchanges.
