This is something that would almost never need to be built since headers or stock manifolds are far more popular. The stock 6 cylinder manifold though (from the AMT ‘51 Chevy kit) is a pretty wimpy looking 6 into 4 unit.😕 So I drilled correspondingly spaced holes in a wooden block and bent one hoop out of .080” evergreen round to fit the outer holes. Then bent and trimmed the inner tubes to suit and glued in place with CA.  I made a flange from .030” strip, drilled to match. Then added a piece of .080 x .188 rectangle to the bottom and sanded it to shape. I trimmed four of the pipes flush with the back of the flange and left only two for locating purposes.

Great fab work. I make up jigs and fixtures all the time at work, cuts hours out of a job most times. Who knows, this one you've made up may come in handy down the road.

That's a sweet bit of scratchbuilding right there. Looks great!

Are you working up a little Fisher/Horning crossflow head for that?

Looks good. The manifold came out much better than I would had expected in the first photo. The intake is stunning. Great work.

What is your technique for bending the round stock?  Do you heat the plastic somehow to persuade it to keep the bend or does it simply keep the shape after being formed?

That looks very cool! 😎👍

I also like that engine stand.. Any chance you could post a couple of pictures of it please... Thanks a million!..🙂

Thanks. I make my simple engine stands from evergreen or chunks of sprue. Some of them have been modified a number of times to suit different engines.

These bends were all done cold. I bend it around an old axle or piece of coat hanger to get the same radius on all of the bends. You need to bend it well past the degree you want and let it relax back to the desired shape. The angle cuts were done after bending.

Thanks Greg!  I do enjoy reading and employing the many tips and techniques you post.

You’re welcome Guido. The two on the bottom left have little pads under them to raise them off the bench. That way I can wrap a small rubber band around it to hold the engine and trans to the stand.
