mrmike Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I was going to start this later, but now seems like a good time for it! This is the AMT '97 Ford Mustang GT and the body is partially assembled. The body paint will be Dupli-Color Amazon Green Metallic with a tan and black interior. The model will be built stock with some wiring on the engine. So far there is a ton of flash on this model and for this much flash, the model should be a lot older than this. Let the scraping begin! 3
mrmike Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 This is a horrible kit with many problems with it. So far, I have had to study closely the instruction sheet for the reassembly (several times) of the cylinder heads and I have issues with the front end of the body plus all of the scraping of the extra flash. 3
DJMar Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 In the battle of the '94-'98 Mustang models, the Revellogram kit is much better than the AMT offering in many ways. This kit isn't fun to build, but with a little work and a lot of patience, it makes for a decent early SN95. The color scheme you picked should look really good.
mrmike Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 (edited) I have the Revellogram Mustang GT and the Mustang Cobra built and a Mustang Cobra in the stash. The Revellogram GT and Cobra were fun builds, but this AMT kit is not starting out that way. The quality control was not existent when this kit came out. Now I must be patient and work on this Mustang GT as needed. Now I understand why I prefer Revell model kits and others versus AMT/Round2 kits. But, then I have known of this for some time now! Thanks DJ! Edited November 29, 2024 by mrmike 2
mrmike Posted December 4, 2024 Author Posted December 4, 2024 I got the 4.6 Ltr. engine assembled. All touched up, too. 7
slusher Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Very nice engine Mike! I do try to follow your builds!
mrmike Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 Thanks Carl! I appreciate that you try to follow along.
mrmike Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 The paint was also flying on the '97 Mustang GT. Have a look... 9
Pierre_tec Posted February 2 Posted February 2 It’s that the same duplicolor green? Seems like a silver hue on it
mrmike Posted February 6 Author Posted February 6 I used Model Master Gray Primer Lacquer that I had left over from a previous project.
Brutalform Posted February 7 Posted February 7 That color looks like it has a pearl to it. I remember years ago seeing a Stang or two with that color of paint. Looking good so far.
mrmike Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 (edited) Thanks Tom! The paint is a metallic, but it does look like a pearl was added to it. Edited February 10 by mrmike
espo Posted February 19 Posted February 19 In a couple of the pictures the color looks somewhat like the color shifting paint option that Ford had offered on the Mustang at one time.
mrmike Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 The color is a non-color shifting paint that I know of. It is Dupli-Color Amazon Green Metallic.

mrmike Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 The chassis has been assembled and is awaiting to be painted. The exhaust system has been painted with Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver and will get a coating of Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color.
Ken Car-Fanatic Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Really like the paint & engine build. The color really does look similar to the Mystic Green color Ford offered. Also glad I wasn't the only one who thought the kit was not great. I bought one for $3.00 was so disappointed, I saved the parts & never built it, but picked up a Tamiya Cobra R kit. Be very interested to see this one done, very nice to this point!
mrmike Posted March 11 Author Posted March 11 Well Ken, it's like this, I have removed so much flash from this model. For a kit that is this old and not used that much, the tooling shouldn't have that much usage on it. But, it does!
mrmike Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 The '97 Mustang GT is almost done. I just have to add the windows to the body, install the body onto the chassis and I am done! 4
